💬 Comment below: Which story had you the most shocked this week? And what do you think about the Kayla Nicole situation... fair or overblown? Let’s talk about it!
Hello everyone!
My name is Rebecca, also known as RiRi, and welcome back to a brand new episode of RiRi's
Weekly Tea.
First of all, thank you so much for tuning in again, I seriously love making these videos,
and seeing all your comments on last week's episode totally made my week.
It was a spicy one, and even when you disagree with me, I welcome the conversation.
This is a show where I give my unfiltered thoughts on the biggest pop culture and entertainment
news stories from the week.
No holding back, and no sugarcoating, so grab your mug, get cozy, and let's get into it.
Okay, let's start with the White House using a Taylor Swift song in a TikTok.
The White House shared a TikTok where they used the fate of Ophelia.
And if you are familiar with the history between Donald Trump and Taylor Swift, this is surprising
to say the least.
I mean, Trump has said on multiple occasions that he hates Taylor Swift, that she's no
longer hot, and Taylor has made it clear she is not a Trump supporter.
So, obviously, Swifties went crazy wondering why they used a Taylor Swift song.
After getting backlash, a White House representative spoke with Variety.
They said,
"'We made this video because we knew that fake news media brands like Variety would
breathlessly amplify them.
Congrats, you got played.'"
So basically, they used Taylor Swift's song for clout, which comes as no surprise.
I mean, at this point, people will use Taylor's name for clout whether they love or claim
to hate her.
Even people who claim that Taylor Swift is so terrible can't help using her name.
They know it gets attention.
So whether Trump and the White House love or hate Taylor Swift, clearly they need her
name in their headlines.
Next up, Flavor Flav was a guest judge on Dancing with the Stars last week.
And listen, I love Flavor Flav.
I actually met him once at the Aristore movie premiere, and he's such a cool guy.
He's super nice, a huge supporter of women, and a huge Swifty.
He even sponsors the U.S. women's water polo team.
Again, so many great qualities about him.
I love Flavor Flav.
But what on earth was he doing judging Dancing with the Stars?
The scoring was all over the place.
I couldn't believe he gave Andy and Alex the same score.
He gave them both a 9, when Alex so clearly deserved a 10, and Andy deserved a 7.
And I'm not an Andy hater.
I really like him, and I think he's entertaining to watch.
I know that's controversial.
So many people are really pissed that Andy is still in the competition.
But that's another story.
Flavor Flav later said that he accidentally gave Alex a 9.
He really meant to give her a 10.
But honestly, at this stage in the competition, I think we need to bring in guest judges who
are actually really well-versed in dancing.
He also gave Dylan Efron a 10, which really made no sense.
At this stage in the competition, the stakes are higher.
I love the chaos, but the judging should be a little bit more consistent.
Still, it made for great TV, and that's what we're all here for.
All right, moving on.
SZA recently addressed her feud with Nicki Minaj.
In a new interview, SZA basically said,
I don't know her.
Of course, this is referring to a Twitter exchange between Nicki and SZA a few months
ago.
Now, here's what I have to say.
I wish these feuds between women would just stop.
I've been a Nicki fan for years.
And while I definitely don't agree with everything she's ever posted, I still respect
her legacy.
But I want to see more collaboration, not competition.
Let's all take a page from Charli XCX and Lorde's book.
The Girl So Confusing remix was the cultural reset that we all needed.
When women support each other, especially in the music industry, everyone wins.
And when we're pitted against each other, the patriarchy wins.
Honestly, I'm done taking sides.
I want everyone to work it out on the remix.
Or if you're gonna feud, let's leave it in the music.
Moving on to Kim Kardashian, her new show All Spare just debuted on Hulu.
And it debuted with a whopping 0% on Rotten Tomatoes from Top Critics.
And honestly, I love the way that Kim handled it.
She shared a carousel on Instagram, basically trolling herself.
In her caption, she put,
Have you tuned in to the most critically acclaimed show of the year?
And in the post, Kim added screenshots of the bad reviews from critics.
And honestly, I respect it.
I love that she can laugh at herself.
And it really doesn't matter what the critics think, because fans are actually loving the
show.
They're eating it up.
They're saying it's camp, it's over the top, and dramatic.
Yes, the acting is questionable.
And the plot is wild.
But it's also fabulous.
I love that she can laugh at herself and still have fun with it.
And I did watch the first episode.
Yes, it's a little unrealistic, but that's kind of the point.
Someone said that All Spare is like scream queens for wine moms and millennial gays.
And I couldn't agree more.
I'm gonna keep watching the show, but let me know your thoughts if you've seen it.
I feel like it's one of those shows where you either love it or hate it.
Hilary Duff is officially back and better than ever.
She just released her first single in 10 years.
It's called Mature, and I'm obsessed.
I grew up with Hilary Duff.
Lizzie McGuire was everything to me.
The song Mature is so millennial coded.
It's so pop girl.
It's basically a conversation that Hilary is having with the younger version of herself.
I mean, it's so relatable.
In the lyrics, she also makes a little reference to Leonardo DiCaprio.
She sings, just a few years younger, a new haircut.
Very Leo of you with a Scorpio touch.
I think this is a double entendre because Leo is a star sign, just like Scorpio is.
But Leo is also short for Leonardo DiCaprio, who also happens to be a Scorpio, and who
also happens to date younger girls, if the shoe fits.
I think Hilary is so smart for making this reference.
It gets the people talking.
And she also announced a little mini tour she's hitting four cities in January.
London, Toronto, Brooklyn, and LA.
I've already signed up for the LA presale, obviously.
As a lifelong Lizzie McGuire fan, I am so beyond ready for this comeback.
Millennials, it's our time to rise again.
Also, I have a little bit of an interesting story with my first encounter with Hilary
Duff.
This happened a few years ago, and if enough of you want to know about the story, comment
down below, and maybe I'll talk about it next week.
Let me know.
Chrishell Stouse has announced that she is officially leaving Selling Sunset, and that
Jesus himself couldn't get her to return for another season.
And honestly, are any of us surprised?
I feel like Chrishell has been over it for a while.
You can kind of see it in her energy this past season.
It seems like she's a little checked out, and definitely keeping her distance from any
newcomers at the Oppenheim Group, like Sandra Vergara.
You can tell the drama is just not serving Chrishell anymore.
She says that she is financially okay and doesn't need the show, and wants to protect
her mental health.
And I respect that.
But of course, the show will not be the same without her, and I don't even know if they're
coming back for another season.
But if they do, I have one request.
Bring back Christine Quinn.
Love her or hate her, you've gotta admit, she was so entertaining to watch.
She makes the perfect villain.
But do you think Selling Sunset is actually going to come back?
And will there be a show without Chrishell?
I guess we'll find out, but now we have to talk about the Grammy nominations.
And the biggest snub of this year.
Grammy nominations for the 2026 awards show were announced this week.
And there were a few snubs, but the biggest one, in my opinion, was the weekend.
After everything that happened between the Recording Academy and The Weeknd, I was shocked
that he got zero nominations.
I mean, he went from boycotting the Grammys and calling for change just a few years ago.
He demanded transparency for himself and his fans.
And then this year at the Grammys, Harvey Mason Jr., who is the CEO of the Recording
Academy, made this whole speech on stage about how The Weeknd called them out, and they've
made so many changes since then.
And then he proceeds to introduce The Weeknd, who performed two of his songs on that stage.
And it seemed all was well between The Weeknd and the Recording Academy.
I never thought we would see him on the Grammy stage ever again.
But all was well, and it seemed like they made amends.
Only for The Weeknd to get completely snubbed for his album, Hurry Up Tomorrow.
That album was a smash hit.
It just feels like a slap in the face.
You bring him back, apologize publicly, let him perform, and then give him nothing the
next year?
Be so serious right now.
Especially since Hurry Up Tomorrow is supposedly the last album The Weeknd is releasing as
The Weeknd.
I'm shocked and upset, and I just really wonder how he's feeling.
Like is he over it because he's been disappointed by the Grammys so many times before?
Or is he even more upset now?
If I was him, I'd probably be upset.
But now we have to move on because I don't want to get too pissed off.
Back to Kim Kardashian, she announced this week that she failed the California bar exam.
And honestly, I applaud her for it.
The California bar exam is one of the hardest tests out there.
So many people fail it multiple times.
And Kim being open about her failure makes her more relatable.
She said she's not giving up, and I find that really inspiring.
I also feel like it's kind of a win-win for her.
If Kim Kardashian passed the bar exam the very first time she took it, I feel like people
would just assume that she bought her way into passing.
But failing publicly shows that she's actually doing the work.
I really love the transparency, and I'm sure that a lot of other law students can relate
to it.
And it just goes to show that you can have all the money and the power in the world,
but you can still fail at things, and that's okay.
And she's showing people that just because you failed the first time, it doesn't mean
you should completely give up.
If that's your goal, and clearly this is Kim's goal, you should never give up.
It's only a matter of time before you achieve that goal.
I think there's a lot of power and vulnerability, and we don't want to see perfect celebrities
anymore.
It's good to see them go through things that we go through, like failing a test.
And I'm not the biggest Kim Kardashian fan, but again, I applaud the transparency.
Moving on, I am so excited for Katherine Pies, who just announced that she is pregnant.
I could not be happier for her.
You can just tell Katherine is glowing.
She looks genuinely at peace and so in love.
Katherine revealed that she found out she was pregnant exactly one month after her wedding.
I just love that for her, especially because she has been through so much publicly.
Especially with her past marriage, and she's been so vulnerable about it.
It's one thing going through heartbreak and getting cheated on, and it's another thing
to do it in front of millions of people online.
I live in Los Angeles, and it was a known fact that Austin McBroom would regularly cheat
on Katherine.
She was at home raising his kids, and he was out every other day with another girl.
To see her find love again and rebuild her life, and now starting this new chapter, it's
just so beautiful.
There is real power in her story, and I think it gives hope to so many women who have gone
through a similar pain.
So let this be your sign that there is love after heartbreak, and it does get better.
Congratulations to Katherine and her husband Igor.
And finally, we have to talk about Kayla Nicole once again.
Kayla has deactivated her Twitter account after her old problematic tweets resurfaced.
So Kayla dressed up as Toni Braxton for Halloween, and remade the music video for He Wasn't
Man Enough For Me.
A clear dig to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
After getting backlash, Kayla tweeted,
Respect black women, protect black women.
And that's when people decided to dig up her old problematic tweets.
And I'm not going to show the tweets in this video, you've probably already seen them.
But if you are curious, and you want to see the tweets for yourself, I did share them
in a YouTube short.
Now these tweets were racist, homophobic, and highly offensive to multiple groups of
people.
Some dated all the way back to 2010, and others were more recent.
A lot of these tweets were specifically racist towards black women.
So people called Kayla a hypocrite for saying we need to protect and respect black women,
when according to her tweets, she wasn't even doing that.
Now yes, people can grow and change, I absolutely believe that.
But if you're going to do things like throw shade at your ex and his new fiance, your
past behavior will come up, especially if you're still acting messy online.
And I want to make it clear, I am not a Kayla Nicole hater.
I said this in my previous video, I think she has every right to speak on her experiences.
The same way that Taylor Swift is allowed to make music about her ex-boyfriends, Kayla
Nicole is allowed to do podcasts and interviews talking about her past relationships.
And even though we may not like it, and honestly it makes her look desperate in my opinion,
she is also allowed to throw shade by wearing Halloween costumes.
But again, if you're going to dish it out, you have to be able to take it.
And Swifties are like the FBI, if there is dirt on you, they're going to find it.
And let's be real, Kayla has made some shady comments towards Travis Kelce and Taylor
Swift.
If you're really moved on and happy in your own life, why keep poking?
And then some people think that Kayla's Halloween costume was a direct response to
Taylor's song, Opalite, where Taylor sings about one of Travis' exes being in her phone.
The thing about Taylor Swift is if she wants to throw a direct jab at you, she will.
I mean, how could we forget Thank You Amy, a literal diss track towards Kim Kardashian.
Or in Fortnite, when Taylor sings, your wife waters flowers, I wanna kill her.
If you think Taylor singing, she was in her phone, was a diss to Kayla Nicole, then you
clearly haven't seen when Taylor actually disses people.
Like calling Charli XCX a toy chihuahua barking from a tiny purse.
Opalite is singing about Taylor and Travis' past experiences that were dark and hard,
and how these experiences led them to the light, to their new relationship where they're
so happy and in love.
You know, when Taylor Swift said, I keep my side of the street clean, you wouldn't know
what I mean, I really felt that.
So Kayla was trying to delete these problematic tweets that were popping up, but there were
so many, so she just ended up deactivating her entire Twitter account.
And she also limited the comments on her Instagram page, and she's been pretty quiet ever since.
She hasn't posted anything on her stories.
Now I'm not saying we should cancel Kayla Nicole, but I do hope that she's taking this
time to reflect a little bit.
Growth isn't about deleting or trying to hide your old tweets.
It's about showing that you've really learned from them, and that you don't think like that anymore.
Because yes, some of these tweets were posted a long time ago, but even for 2010 or 2011,
some of them were just absolutely terrible.
So again, when you're tweeting things like, protect black women and respect black women,
but then your old tweets show otherwise, people are gonna call you a hypocrite.
Especially because some of the behavior that Kayla's been called out for is more recent.
Like just this year, when she danced on stage with Chris Brown, a known woman abuser.
At the end of it all, I truly hope that Kayla's doing okay.
Clearly this relationship had a huge impact on her, and I don't blame her.
I've been there too.
You date someone for years, thinking they're going to be your husband, and then they just never propose.
Of course it's going to hurt seeing your ex move on with only the most famous person in
the world, and propose to her within two years.
When you dated him on and off for five years, and never got a proposal.
I understand.
That hurts.
Of course it does.
So again, I just hope that she finds the healing that she needs.
I've been there.
I feel for her.
I understand her pain.
But I also hope that she realizes that throwing shade and little jabs here and there is not
going to help her feel better.
The only way to truly feel better is living a good life on your own.
And while she is allowed to make little jabs, or talk about her past experiences, again,
it just gives off the impression that she isn't healed, and she's not over it.
So yeah, I just hope she finds her own happiness, and everyone has their own happily ever after.
And that's all the tea for this week, besties.
