This family video went out of business with the rest of the chain in 2021. It sits stripped and housing Marcos equipment. They flipped the signs upside down, not sure why! With its iconic obelisk, there’s no mistaking this building! Girard has taken a hit with the Rite Aid closing too.
Today we're at the abandoned family
video in Gerard, Ohio. This place is
right across the street
from the abandoned ride.
Um, this family video is attached to a
Marcos and um, they flipped the sign
upside down, so it's pretty interesting.
So, yeah, let's go walk around and see
what we can find. There is the sign on
the
street where they
have flipped the sign.
You know, a lot of places will black the
signs out. This one
just flipped it. Kind of strange.
Um, so there's the
Marcos.

Um, and there's the family video. And
they have
the classic
style obelisk
thing. The light up
obelisk. And that sign has been flipped,
too.
for lease. I think this place has been
closed since
2021. Didn't they all close
then? And they left the lights on for
us. Yeah, they just stripped everything
out.

I I don't see any logos in there,
but yeah, that's
definitely classic family
video. Barebones family video.
Were these their
um
like cash registers and stuff? Like not
not the register itself. I mean like the
screen that went to them. There's a
whole bunch of monitors in there.
Like maybe those were like part of the
office in the back or something
too. I just I don't really understand
why would you leave those all like
that. Oh, that's Marco's
storage. Oh my
goodness. So
Marco's This is Marco's stuff. They're
just using this place as
storage. I know a lot of family videos
um before they closed, they would like
rent out part of their building to
another business like a pizza place or
even like a vape shop I think in some
cases to um try to recoup like some of
the rent.
Um that's sad that this is closed though
cuz it'd be cool if these places were
still around. There's more of the
um computers and stuff over
there.
Um I think I see where the shelving was
too.
on the
ground. So, Gerard has taken a hit here.
Um, this Raid, I remember going to it
last year and then all of a sudden they
were all closing and now they're all
gone. And they're turning that Raid into
a plasma place. That's what I heard, a
plasma donation.
Um, in my opinion, that's not a good
idea for Gerard because Gerard is
actually a nice town and plasma donation
places. They kind of draw
in not the best people.
Um, obviously, you know, we need plasma
donated and stuff, but it's just not
something you want to put in your
downtown when your town is nice. So,
I I hope that doesn't
happen.
Um, but yeah, this family video has been
gone since
2021. the right aid since 2024. And um
there's already a Family Dollar right
there and there's a Dollar General right
down the street. Otherwise, I would say
put a dollar store here, but I don't
really know what
else. It would have to be maybe a
restaurant or some other unique
business cuz I don't really know. If
anybody has any
ideas, let me know. This is for
rent. So, if you want to improve Gerard,
Ohio, come here. I can't exactly walk
around the back cuz it's narrow. Uh, but
I just wanted to show it.
So, there's
a tiny narrow
like alley here. And if you see this
wall here is like leaning. Do you see
this
leaning? It looks like it's about to
collapse. Very
strange.
So that's what's in the back of this
place. All right, that was a quick look
at the family video in
Gerard. The building is in really good
shape, so hopefully it will be rented.

Um, put in the comments below your
memories of family video and video
rentals and stuff. That's kind of sad
that these places are no longer around
and we can't even use red boxes anymore.
So, what the heck? Like, it's like Roku
and Netflix and stuff just like took
over everything. Um, so yeah, I hope you
guys enjoyed it and I'll see you on the
next video.
