Elon Musk SHOCKED NASA and China with Genius Way to land on the Moon!
Wait… what if I told you that SpaceX might be reviving one of its early projects to save NASA's Artemis?
Yeah, you heard that right. Red Dragon was SpaceX’s early plan to send a modified Dragon capsule to Mars. The idea was revolutionary, but then, the project was canceled… until now.
Now, with Starship facing delays and the Artemis program under pressure, SpaceX could be looking at a bold Plan B — reviving the Red Dragon for deep space missions, and maybe even turning it into a lunar lander.
So, could the Red Dragon rise again? Is SpaceX really planning to use its proven Dragon spacecraft and Falcon Heavy to reach the Moon before Starship is ready?
Find out the answer in today's Techmap episode!
Elon Musk SHOCKED NASA and China with Genius Way to land on the Moon!
Since Elon Musk founded SpaceX, his main goal has been to make space travel affordable and to help humans become a multi-planetary species — basically, living on more than one planet. This vision has guided every step SpaceX has taken since day one.
To start, they created the Falcon rocket series — powerful, partly reusable rockets designed to launch heavy cargo into space while keeping costs low. The success of the Falcon rockets gave SpaceX valuable experience in reusability, which is a major step toward cheaper space missions and, eventually, human life on Mars.
But Musk didn’t stop there. SpaceX also began designing new spacecraft built specifically for deep space missions and Mars travel. One of the most exciting of these is Starship, a massive, fully reusable spacecraft designed to carry both cargo and people to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
There was also another cool project called Red Dragon, a plan to modify the Dragon capsule to land on Mars. However, SpaceX decided to cancel it so the team could focus all their efforts on developing Starship. This makes sense because Starship is designed to do everything Red Dragon could do, but on a much larger scale and with far more advanced technology.

Starship is already playing a key role in future space exploration. NASA has even partnered with SpaceX, signing a $2.9 billion contract for Starship to serve as a lunar lander for the Artemis 3 mission, which aims to return humans to the Moon.
But of course, making all of this happen isn’t as simple as it sounds. Building a rocket like Starship and turning it into a vehicle for multi-planetary life is no walk in the park. Even though the idea sounds incredible, Elon Musk and SpaceX can’t achieve everything overnight, especially when they’re aiming for two huge goals at once: reaching the Moon and Mars."
