Dorian Gray, a rising star in the fashion and media world, attributes his success to a chance encounter with his manager, Henry. However, Dorian neglects to mention his creative collaborator and photographer, Basil.

Through a flashback, we witness Basil's passionate belief in Dorian's potential, capturing a "perfect" photograph that seems to hold an unsettling power. The film explores Dorian's relationships—first with the earnest photographer Basil, and then with a naive young singer, Sibyl Vane—showing his descent into narcissism and heartlessness as he seeks fleeting pleasures, believing his outward beauty is magically protected.

As Dorian's cruel actions and abuse lead to devastating consequences and public scandal, he discovers the horrifying reality of the "trade-off": the physical toll of his moral decay is not visible on his face, but is instead mysteriously reflected in Basil's haunting, perfect portrait. The film culminates in a powerful confrontation as Basil attempts to save Dorian's soul, forcing Dorian to face the monstrosity he has become.
