So today, I'm going to be sharing five side hustles that work perfectly for people over 50. So, pet sitters take care of pets while owners are away. You feed them, you walk them, and you play with them. And you can do this at their home or yours. And if you don't think people are making money with this, well, here's a story that'll blow your mind. Meet Barbara. She's 83 years old and she runs a successful petsitting business. She takes care of pets and walks dogs and she even drives neighbors pets to appointments. Now, Barbara has been working since age 11. She spent 30 years working with Eastern Airlines and her philosophy is that age is just a number and mine is unlisted. So if she can do this in her 80s, you can absolutely do it at 50 plus. Now let's talk about money. Pet sitters typically earn between 25 and $48 per hour, but that can vary drastically depending on your location and services. In wealthy areas, experienced sitters often earn over $40 per hour. And the most money is there to be made during holiday seasons where you would likely have time off anyways. Now, if you go to people's houses in wealthy areas, you'll often make over $40 an hour, but you can charge less to have them drop off their pet at your house. And then you can make money from multiple different people. And this can add up to hundreds of dollars per hour. So, you can start off as a side hustle and then eventually down the line, you can start a full-time business doing this. And it's not very hard on the body and it's relatively easy and passive. So, how do you get started? Well, you can sign up on apps or websites like Rover or PetSitters International. Or you can create your own local business and advertise it on places like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Or you can start by offering services to neighbors and friends, then expand through word of mouth and use online platforms to grow even bigger. All right, the second side hustle is affiliate marketing for people over 50. Now, let me break down exactly what affiliate marketing is for you. You promote other companies products online, and typically these are products that you've actually used yourself and you know they're high quality, so you'd be recommending them anyways. And if someone clicks on one of your affiliate links and they end up buying the product, then you earn a small commission from that. Sometimes it's 5% or it could be all the way up to 70% depending on the product or service. So they buy through your unique referral link and they take care of everything. All you have to do is provide the traffic and everything else is taken care of. You don't need to create the products. You don't need to handle the inventory or the customer service. You simply recommend products that you believe in and you earn when people buy. Now, here's an incredible story. Meet Brian. He's 59 years old. Brian went from airport general manager to digital marketing. And it didn't take him very long to land the job. Now, affiliate marketing is a type of digital marketing. All right, side hustle number three is consulting on retirement planning. So, let me explain what retirement planning consultants do. They help prepare financially for their retirement years. And they advise on saving strategies and investment approaches, and they also guide clients on social security timing, and they help create sustainable income plans. Now, here's what's powerful about this. People over 50 understand retirement challenges firsthand. You're either planning it or living it, and that's what makes you relatable and credible. And let's be honest, a lot of financial adviserss have ulterior motives, whereas you could give people the real scoop on how to do it. Now, let me give you an example of someone doing this on YouTube. Azul Azul runs a YouTube channel with over 300,000 subscribers, and he creates content about retirement planning. And his estimated monthly earnings just from AdSense alone is $6 to $17,000 a month. So, AdSense is the money that you get when ads pop up on your channel. And it's the easiest and most basic way of making money on YouTube. However, if you're monetizing effectively, you should be making anywhere from 3 to 10 times more than AdSense alone. So, he's likely making far far more than $17,000 a month. Just as an example, he offers a free retirement newsletter. And this builds his audience and establishes authority. And from there, he can offer consulting services or sell courses and digital products or any number of other business side hustles. And his decades of life experience give him credibility, something that younger financial advisers simply don't have. Now, for the income potential, retirement planning consultants typically charge $100 to $300 per hour, and some offer package deals at $1,500 to $5,000. Now, combined with YouTube ad revenue like Azoulles, you're looking at minimum of a few hundred,000 a year doing this. So, how do you get started? Well, for most niches out there, you don't necessarily need fancy certifications to share general guidance. So, start by creating content on YouTube. Share your own retirement journey and lessons learned. For instance, there's people on YouTube that talk about how to retire on less than $500,000. And you can build an audience by being authentic and helpful. Plus, you can offer free initial consultations, then develop paid consulting packages later on. And speaking of that, let's talk about side hustle number four, consulting and coaching in your expertise area. So, let me explain what consultants and coaches do. They use their professional experience to advise others, and they can help businesses or individuals. So, this could be business strategy or career coaching. For instance, I've worked with a ton of different career coaches that help people get really niche jobs. I've worked with people in cyber security who help people get PCI compliance jobs, which is a very niche type of cyber security where you can make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. And it's relatively easy to get into. I've worked with people who help get IT jobs, accounting jobs, data analyst jobs, etc. But it's not just career coaching. It could be life coaching or industry specific consulting. Chances are you just by happen stance have spent a bunch of time doing something and you can consult or coach other people on how they can do that thing as well. And what many seniors are discovering is their decades of experience are incredibly valuable and younger entrepreneurs or businesses or just people in general need this wisdom. Just as an example, meet Susan. She's 58 years old and she's a former nurse and she started a wellness coaching business and this was after leaving hospital employment and she uses her healthcare experience to build credibility and help other people. Now, let's talk about the money. Business consultants often charge a minimum of $65 to $100 per hour starting out, and experienced consultants earn easily $200 to $300 per hour. So, how do you get started? First, identify your area of expertise. Then, create a YouTube channel and a LinkedIn profile and highlight your experience on them. Then, you can start creating content and offer initial consultations to former colleagues or reach out through your network and use platforms like Clarity.fm or Calendarly to do the coaching and consulting. What's happening guys? In the editing process of this video and I have an opportunity for a select group of people. So these are people who are serious about growing their personal brand on YouTube. So basically we figured out recently how to grow a personal brand and combine all the upsides of a personal brand with the upsides of automation, right? Azul is one of those examples. My client R.J. is another example. He's in pretty much the same niche. And there are countless examples of older creators that are blowing up on YouTube. And often time they're doing it with videos that are very basic and easy to create. And there are a few reasons for why this is. One, most of the money in the United States and in most English-speaking first world countries or probably just countries in general is owned by 50 plus. And in fact, it's something around 80% of money is actually owned by 50 and above. So the 50 plus demographic has almost all the money. Two, advertisers obviously want to advertise to this demographic of 50 and above. Three, people that are 50 and above generally speaking, want to watch content from other people that are 50 and above. And this is not just for the 50 and above demographic, but this is just people in general. Generally speaking, they are attracted to watching content from other people that they can relate to. And age is one of the easiest ways to relate to somebody else. They grew up watching the same shows as you, experiencing the same culture, etc., etc. So, it makes sense that they would watch content from other people that are from their generation. And so, there is a massive amount of demand for people watching content from 50 and above. And then finally, four, there's almost no supply of people creating content at 50 and above. And so because of the fact that there is a massive amount of demand and there's very little supply, it is way easier for people that are 50 and above to grow on YouTube. And because of the fact that there's so many advertisers that are advertising products to them, the AdSense revenue is really good. Plus, there's a ton of products that you can sell on your channel. So, we've been finding that it is significantly easier for 50 and above to grow on YouTube. And another perk is usually 50 and above doesn't really care that much about editing. And so you can post very basic videos, in many cases not edited at all, videos that are just recorded on your iPhone, and the 50 and above demographic doesn't care. In fact, they actually prefer that type of content. And there's so many different ways to earn money, obviously from AdSense, affiliate marketing, sponsorships, selling your own products and services, and the list goes on. Now, just as an example of someone 50 and above who recently did this, my brother Zack. So my brother Zach spent 30 years working in the trades, and his body started to break down. And so he basically came to me and he's like, "Shane, you know a lot about side hustles, online work, that kind of thing. How do you recommend I make money because I don't want to have to do the trades for the rest of my life?" And of course, I told him to start on YouTube. And he was actually really surprised. He's like, "Wow, I've never recorded a video in my life. I'm not tech-savvy. I barely even watch YouTube. So, how the heck am I going to be able to grow on YouTube?" But he didn't know that it's actually easier for someone like him to grow, even though he had zero experience. And within just 21 days of posting his first video, he had a $214 day. That's a $78,000 a year annual run rate. And about 3 months after posting his first video, he had a $447 day. That's about $160,000 a year run rate. Oh, and he's also making a bunch of affiliate sales as well. And this just happened a few months ago.
