There is a large amount of technical crossover from Sword and Buckler to Viking Round Shield as both are center gripped shields that move in similar ways. With the obvious difference being size of shield, there are adjustments to be made. The difference is most obvious with round shield when it comes to halfswording as the size of the round shield will tend to make it redundant from a defensive standpoint. One other main difference between the systems is the length and balance of the swords as the balance of a later period arming sword is more balanced towards the pommel while the viking sword will often be more tip heavy. With these factors in mind, adjustments and interpretations can be made while still being mostly faithful to the source material.
