Wolverhampton might not shout the loudest, but it’s got one of the best food scenes in the UK, from viral wagyu pastrami sandwiches, Midlands chip shop classics and desi-pub royalty.

In this episode, I hit the streets of Wolverhampton to uncover the best food spots in the city. First stop, Malik’s Butchers, a family-run halal butchers that blew up on TikTok for their unbelievable wagyu pastrami sandwich, dubbed ā€œthe most expensive sandwich in the country.ā€ The Maliks are larger than life, and their story is a proper British success. Passion, graft and community spirit all rolled into one.

Then I dive into a Midlands classic, orange battered chips at Ocean Fryer, a golden local delicacy you won’t find anywhere else. From there, I wander through the Wulfrun Centre, chatting about how the government’s neglect has left high streets like Wolves struggling, but also how local pride still burns strong.

Finally, I wrap up at The Desi Yew Tree, one of the Midlands’ best desi pubs, to meet the owners and talk about Wolverhampton’s food, culture, and resilience.

This isn’t just a food vlog. It’s a love letter to the Black Country, its flavours, and its people.
