It's been a rainy afternoon here in downtown Houston, but fans rolling in to Dykin Park getting ready for game five of this 10-game homestand.
Astros 15 games over, 500 having won three in a row, and their lead in the AL West is now three. The Angels
currently in last place at the AL West, just 10 games under, 500.
Zach Netto will lead things off for Ray Montgomery, the interim manager for the Angels, and he fouls the first pitch.
And Spencer has an 0-1 count to start.
With Julia earlier having Jordan in there, you've got higher expectations for the offense, but a great start for
Arrighetti getting that sweeper over for the called third.
Go for play a little bit more off the plate.
It's ball into center, sending Mauricio Dubon back. Looks like he has it lined up. He does.
Oncata sends one to the track in center, but he's out number two.
Check swing, broken bat, and Christian Walker is there.
That's how things go for Mike Trout here at Dykin Park, hitting under 200 in his career.
And a chopper with Peña's speed. Netto has to hurry, and he does. Good play by the Angels shortstop to get Peña.
We said Hendricks doesn't throw hard, but that still hurts, and they're gonna check on Altuve as he is hit on the left hand,
maybe near the left wrist.
In Anaheim on June 22nd.
Correa misses the fastball, and that's the first strikeout for Hendricks. Only his 88th strike first time he faced him.
On the ground, right side. To his left is Ranjitho. He'll make the throw in time to get Sanchez and the inning.
Swing and a miss. There's that chase pitch that Spencer said was missing last start.
And that's a fastball right down the middle.
Spencer, after sweeping one off the plate against Ward.
Runner goes. The pitch is swung on. Tried to hold up, but O'Hoppy goes too far. Spencer strikes out three in the inning.
And he sends one back to the mound. Hendricks snags it on a hop and underhands it to first.
And that'll be the first out of the inning.
Yeiner sends one into right-center field. That is going to be down for a hit.
And it bounces off the wall in right-center. Yeiner's going to have a one-out double.
And they start out this year with a win at home against Alabama.
This one a half-swing and Netto's going to make the play, and it's a low throw and picked.
This one's popped into the infield.
Garcia-Dubon.
Zach Netto puts it away for the final out.
That's a called third strike.
These are going good.
He's able to use both the four-seam fastball and two-seam fastball, and it's nice to get some quick easy outs.
Bryce Teodosio thinking about a bunt there on the...
This ball hit high and deep to left. If it stays fair, it's 1-0 Angels, and it does stay fair.
Just fair down the left-field line. Netto
hits his second home run against Arrogate. Those were the only two runs Spencer allowed against the Angels in his start against them last year.
And Netto connects to make it 1-0.
Angels didn't have a hit last night till the seventh inning. Spencer comes back with a strikeout. Now
number six, a new season high for Arrogate.
Tagging at second is Peña on that fly ball to right, and that's the second out of the inning. Now runners on first to third.
There goes Altuve, and the pitch is tapped towards the middle of the diamond.
That can't play. It's not made by Ranjitho, and the Astros tie the game.
I thought that was Zach Netto's ball.
He had more of a momentum going towards first base. Ranjitho had to go and come in and cut him off
and tried to make the throw against him. You could see Zach Netto's reaction. He felt the same way.
Now tip caught by Logan O'Hoppy to end the inning. No, no, no. No, just at home.
That's where Spencer is, right? Just at home.
Taylor Ward as he slices this one. Long run for Cam Smith, and he makes the catch, but he runs hard into the wall.
Hopefully, he's okay. Cam had to make that catch in that little area on the field where there's hardly any foul territory.
Got him.
Seven strikeouts for Arrogate. He has ended the last three innings with a K.
They're doing a better job of kind of commanding the zone against Hendricks in this game.
Giving a look is Adele, and Joe Adele makes a nice play right on the screen.
And he taps this one off the plate. Moncada, the third baseman, will make the throw to first.
Sends this one to left. Taylor Ward towards left center makes the play for the final out of the inning.
It's a little chopper past Arrogate. Carlos in a hurry, and he'll make a play to get Ranjito.
Carlos really hustled after that chopping ground ball.
Got him.
Keeps going to that sweeper against O'Hoppy.
That's now eight strikeouts for Spencer. Two outs in the inning. Bank Park on August the 28th.
This one, a broken bat. Correa will make the play.
Teodosio out for out number three.
Broke his bat. Slowly hit towards third. Moncada goes to second for one, and they're able to turn the double play on Altuve.
On the ground, two hops to Luis Ranjito, and Correa is thrown out to end the inning. One hit.
Sends that to right. Easy play for Cam Smith.
And there's one away here in the seventh.
There goes Ranjito. Pitch is high. The throw is on the money. Saves the call.
Looked like Yeiner had him, but safe at second base is Ranjito with stolen base number eight on the year, his second in as many nights.
Called third strike. Gets the pinch hitter Lugo looking for the second out.
Into right center field. Dubon calls off Cam Smith, and Brian King has done it again.
King has inherited 16 runners this year.
Tried to hold up on a pitch down, and he goes too far. Dubon strikes out.
On the ground. Short hop by Moncada. Throws to second for one, and they're able to turn the double play on Peña.
Second time tonight, the Astros have hit it to a double play.
And Oakhurt making quick work of Netto. A three-pitch strikeout to start the eighth.
Tried to hold up. He goes too far. That's a swing strike for Trout.
Into center field. Playable for Mauricio Dubon.
Kimbrell gets the final out of the eighth as he gets Ward to sky out. Now three for ten since coming off the I.L.
Hits this ball on the line to center. Joe Adele makes the catch.
Jose down on strikes.
Catcher Ohapi will make the throw to first, and that's out number two. Astro warming, but he was just standing there.
Correa goes down on strike, so the slider working to Altuve and Correa. Two strikeouts to end the inning.
Tried to hold up. That is a swing, and that'll be a strikeout for Abreu coming out of the pen.
There's hit number four. Ohapi singles in between Peña and Correa into left field, and now the Angels have two runners on with one out.
That's into right field. It'll be down for a hit. Charging Cam Smith.
Bo Porter puts up the stop sign. Cam almost had his seventh outfield assist, had Porter.
Hits this ball pretty deep to right field. Sending Cam Smith back, and he'll make a...
No, he can't make the play. One run's gonna score.
They're gonna wave around another runner, and the throw home is going to be not in time.
Everybody else advances a base.
Two run score on that play. The Cam could not corral at the wall and right. It's now a three to one Angels lead.
It's a strikeout of Netto for the second out.
Got him.
Enyo will strand the bases loaded and help out Brian Abreu,
but the Angels got three on Abreu in the inning and lead it four to one.
High fly ball, deep left field. Taylor Ward near the corner of the out-of-town scoreboard.
That's popped up. Playable and foul territory. Oswald Peraza puts it away.
That ball drilled deep to left center field. Cam bidding for a home run, and Adele makes a jumping catch at the wall to end the game.
Cam Smith looking for his second home run to the homestand. Hit one about 400 feet to left center.
