Philippines v Thailand (8-2) - Baseball Highlights - World Baseball Classic [15 11 2012]
Baseball classic qualifying the Philippines taken on Thailand
and Major League veteran Johnny Damon playing for Team Thailand
Damon's mother is Thai batting third as the DH. First at bat
bottom one on a full count pitch. John John Roble throws up
and in for the wild pitch. Damon walks and that puts runners on
the corners. Next batter is Joseph Daru as he hits the
ground ball. Ryan Pineda flips it to Janelle Pereja but he is
taken out by Damon on the hard slide. Bringing the Major League
intensity here. A run scores to make it 1-0 Thailand. Bottom
two now. It is some stock at the plate. He hits the fly ball
deep left field. Saxone Omondek goes back and he makes the
leaping catch just in front of the wall to end the inning.
Bottom three. Oppie chopped the ground ball down the first
baseline. How about the play by Leighton Pangilinan to record
the out. What a play by Pangilinan as he gloves this one
in foul ground flips it to Robles and the out is recorded.
Top four. Runners on the corners for Alex Rosales. He
shoots the gap and right center field against Gamalpon. It's an
RBI double scoring Andres Vasquez and our game is tied at
one run apiece. Still top four. Now 2-1 after a balk. Devin
Ramirez adds to the lead. RBI single to center to score
Rosales and it's now 3-1 Philippines. Let's move top
five. Fernando Laurel hits one down the left field line into
the corner it goes. It's an RBI double to score Vasquez and it's
now a 4-1 Philippines lead. Bottom five. Second and third
one away for Damon. But Wadimir Egea gets Damon to pop out the
second and then Oppie Chott is doubled off second base to put
a very sudden end to the inning. Damon goes one for three with a
balk but Thailand falls to the Philippines. A two year final.
Thailand makes seven errors in the loss. The Philippines
into the winner's bracket. They will take on the victor of New
Zealand and Chinese Taipei.
