Bonjour everyone! I don't think I have ever done a "day in the life" video so in this one I am taking you with me on a day in our French farmhouse in the countryside of Burgundy. I have many different things I do for work, so every day is different depending on how many guests we have in our rentals, the projects I am working on or the meetings I have or don't have. This day was one of those perfect ones where I have a slow morning waking up with my lovely Tigrette, then take my time to make a breakfast for guests, do my workout, work on exciting projects and go to the opening of a new café in Beaune. I hope you enjoy this video! As always, thanks so much for being here and for your support and comments! I really appreciate it, they motivate me to keep creating these videos every week! Love, Marloes

Bonjour. I don't think I have ever
filmed a day in the life and I thought
I'd take you with me on just an average
day here at my farmhouse in France. This
morning I had to make breakfast for our
guests and then afterwards I like to
take a moment for myself to have my tea.
The mornings are starting to get chilly.
But this is such a beautiful time of the
year. So I'm enjoying this moment just
watching nature and listening to the
silence. But then I am forcing and
motivating myself to do my workout. I do
not like working out, but I have had to
since my early 20s after an injury. So,
I've always done weightlifting. I kind
of stopped doing that when we moved to
France almost 7 years ago now because I
wanted to focus on building our life
here and getting my kids settled, but I
started to have trouble getting up when
I was painting a piece of furniture and
starting to feel a little bit like an
old woman. So, I picked my routine back
up, but I I don't know. I was starting
to feel a little bored doing the same
thing four or five times a week. I want
to just find new routines. And I found
them on Get HealthyU TV, who are also
the sponsor of today's video. Getalthy
TV offers workouts by certified fitness
professionals for all levels focused on
cardio, building strength, or increasing
mobility. And what I really loved is
that many of the workouts are inspired
by ballet and dance. And they also have
yoga and pilates workouts, which is
exactly what I was looking for to
complement the strength workouts that I
already do myself. And I also find their
workout calendars really helpful. I'm
currently working through the 30 for30
calendar which is a schedule of 30 days
30 minutes a day which feels totally
doable and it has a large variety of
different exercises and workouts and the
very much needed rest days are also in
there. So this helps me to not have to
think about anything just look at my
calendar every day and see what I need
to be doing. Members also get access to
a Facebook group where you can share
your experience and ask questions. If
you feel inspired to work on your
health, Get Healthy UTV is making it
super easy for you now to do so because
the first thousand of my subscribers to
click the link in the video description
will get a full year of premium
membership to get HealthyUT TV for only
$149.
This is valid for new members only. You
will find the link in my description
box.
After my workout and shower, it's time
for lunch. So, Olaf is taking a break
and I am preparing whatever we have on
hand. I usually really like to eat lots
of eggs. I so love eggs. So, I'm making
an omeolet with some herbs and zucchini
from the garden.
Next up, time to work on my book. As you
may know, I am working on two new books.
One about French interiors and the
second is a second cookbook. And I'll be
zooming in way more on the delicacies of
Burgundy and the specific traditions
around wine and gastronomy in the area
where I live, which is Burgundy. I'm
having lots of wonderful meetings with
different brands that are very well
known here in Burgundy and I'm just
taking my time to
do them justice and talk about them and
write beautiful articles alongside all
the recipes of course that I'm working
on and am including in this new book. It
is scheduled to come out in hopefully
the spring of 2026.
I'm never going to get the book
finished, you guys.
Um, I also received a parcel in the mail
to stock up on our shampoos, soaps,
scented candles, room sprays, and all
the good stuff that we have and use in
the cottage and the cabin. I actually
ordered a hand cream this time for the
first time. I thought it would look so
nice to have the little soap and then
have the hand cream next to it. We
haven't had it in the cabin and cottage
so far. I got inspired to do this as I'm
noticing I need more hand cream with
aging. It's one of those things, but it
just looks so luxurious. And I'm also
going to put this in our new bedroom,
which Olaf is still spending all his
time on to create our new bedroom and
bathroom. And I also gifted myself these
lovely bath salts that are going to be
for my baths that I cannot wait to be
having in the coming fall and winter
months.
Now, it's time for a little coffee
break. You know how much I love my
coffee and milk. I can't have cow's milk
in my coffee. That upsets my stomach.
So, I am taking my wonderful oat milk. I
use my milk frother to make the most
wonderful foam. This is such a treat to
me. These coffees, I don't do any syrups
or sugar or anything. I don't need any
of that. Just good coffee and good oat
milk. The thing is, in this area though,
where I live, it is incredibly difficult
to find places where I can get
plant-based milk in my coffee. I don't
think it's a thing here. Yes, when I go
to Djon, they'll have it, but here in
Bon, there's only one place, but tonight
I am going to the opening of a new cafe
here in Bon. I've got to know Charlotte
last year. She's half English, half
French, and she's opening Cafe Mette in
Boone. This is probably the only place I
know in Boone where you can come any
time of the day, have a wonderful
coffee. Yes. With oat milk if you want
and have like a brownie or carrot cake
or a little snack or an avocado toast.
All the things I love. Bone tends to be
very traditional in what the restaurants
and cafes offer. So I am going to start
prepping dinner for tonight so that I
can leave for this festive opening of
Cafe Mette. And then when I come home,
we just need to warm everything up. Like
I said, Olaf is still putting all of his
time in creating and finishing our
bedroom. So then he doesn't need to
worry about that. We just heat it up
tonight when I come back home and then
we will have a lovely home-cooked
dinner.
Although all the recipes in my first
book were vegetarian, we are actually
not vegetarian here at home. We do eat
meat, but not a lot. And I'm always
looking for alternatives, tasty
alternatives. Today I am making a quinoa
burger. I'm just making this with what I
have in my fridge. And I also got a
question recently from somebody about my
skillets and pans that I use. So I like
to use the lus style pans. So the
enameled cast iron for pasta sauces or
other sauces, soups, risotos, whenever I
can, I use those. I also have green
pans. It's just a skillet with it does
have an anti-adhesive
film, but it's not Teflon. I do not want
to use that. And but they you use them
like you would use a regular non-stick
pan. I think when you start to use cast
iron or steel pans like I have, you need
to know how to use them so things don't
stick. So, you just need to make sure
you heat it up really, really hot until
when you drop some water in it. It
shouldn't evaporate, but it should have
this little water drop dancing in your
pan is what they say. That's when you
know that the pan is hot enough. Then
you turn the heat down and then you put
your oil in and then you cook or fry
whatever you need to be making today. So
I am going to finish up here and then
get headed to Bone for the opening of
Miet.
Back home, it is time for dinner with
the family. And my evening is going to
be all dedicated to my new book. I have
recently discovered a new French author.
Her name is Midisa D Costa. She's quite
young still, but she's already written
so many beautiful novels. Her first
bestseller was Tul
and it's been translated into so many
languages. I think the English version
is called All the Blue of the Sky. I
found this when I was in the Netherlands
actually with my parents. I found it in
a bookstore there. I spent one day just
full-time reading because I couldn't put
it down and I'm now reading another one
of her beautiful books. If you can get
your hands on a copy, you should
definitely try and read one of her
beautiful books, Melissa Dosta.
And that concludes my day in the life.
Thank you for spending my day with me
today. I hope you've enjoyed this video
and I will be back with a new one very
soon.
