The Rainbow (Ridge) Connection | Thunder Mesa Model Railroad

Boy howdy do I have an update for you! I'm back to work on the reimagining and rebuild of the On30 Thunder Mesa Mining Company model railroad and this week sees the addition of an entirely new section of layout: "The Rainbow Ridge Connection." It's an 8 square foot addition that packs a lot of operational and scenic potential into a modest footprint. We go from idea to benchwork to actually laying track and making a start on some scenery. Many old favorites from the original Thunder Mesa layout find a new home on this section, including the Rainbow Ridge structures and Thunder Mesa's riverboat, the Canyon Queen. Along the way, I show how I lay down cork roadbed, build my wye track, add ground throws for the turnouts, and much more!
