Free Flight? All Right!

Out in the Arizona desert I happened upon a group of people in a contest of a little-known sport called free flight, where many contestants hand build their own airplanes. The idea is to launch them skyward for several seconds with a gas or electric motor, or even a rubber band, and then they float upon thermals, often for long periods of time.
