4WD Adventure To Remote Beach Turns Into Survival

I was told this was the most beautiful beach in Australia, so of course I couldn't resist going there. However, it was also one of the most remote and inaccessible beaches in the country. There was a grueling 4WD-only track that threaded through a forbidding wilderness, a 3+-hour journey on a very rough path of dirt, rock, and sand. As rock climber and Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard said, "It's not an adventure until everything goes wrong." Judging by that this was going to be one hell of an adventure. I just didn't know it yet.
