Emperor Guangwu, also known as Liu Xiu, was the founder of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220). He was also an invincible general who never failed on the battlefield, a learned scholar, and a benevolent king. Emperor Guangwu was a descendant of Emperor Liu Bang (256 BC-195 BC), the founder of the Han Dynasty. However, after several generations of dismemberment of the non-imperial branch, Emperor Guangwu's father was only a governor of a small city and died at a young age, as reported by China Fetching.
