Our first big home building issue. Over budget in the first week 😅

It's week one of our house build, and we're already over budget. Is this what the next 400 days are going to feel like? We just run into a bit of a roadblock. We're going to land. Let's go show you what's happening at the land today. What's at the land today? Rocks. Rocks. So you remember in the last video, we were like, wow, there's all these rocks. Crazy how many rocks there are. If you look close to that video, the tractor is actually really struggling to dig. There's like some steam coming out. I did think that looked weird at the time, but I asked the guy and he's like, I was fine. It was not fine. Oh, oh, no. So what you're witnessing here behind us is a specialized excavator. Apparently, our house is going to be built on just a solid rock. It's just one big rock. Which is great news, right? Yeah. Great scriptures. I guess it's really expensive to be built upon a strong foundation. Like no one else, you make it spin and twirl. You see all this rock in the corner, and this specialized excavator is going to knock it all out. Here it goes. Like the whole wall is just one big rock. Right now, we're just cleaning this wall up and digging your porch. And then we're emptying out that back corner. It takes really long because of this rock, man. Where's all the rock? Is it just on this wall back here? Or is it everywhere? Everywhere, everywhere, man. He goes, Are you the homeowner? I was like, yeah. He's like, you're going to want to delete the footage after you see the bill for this dig. Dad! That's what he said. Dad, close the door! I need things. I'm going on stage and doing the dance. Dad, I only have lovely sparkles on there. That's nice. Today is June's ballet recital. She's been doing ballet for a few years now, but we switched to a new dance company, and they've been working you hard, huh? My favorite part of the dance is... I made June spin. How many dots are there? Three. I think it's one. That was a good one? Uh-huh. We are getting June some flowers for her performance, and I have a little helper, Millie. She says that June likes red flowers. June, June, June! That was awesome. June, I got some flowers for you. Because it matches your dress. That's why you got red ones? Uh-huh. I need to go home so they can get warmer. They're going to be okay, I promise. What are you getting, Junie girl? I got vanilla and Reese's Pieces. Is that worth dancing all season long? Yeah. Why don't you sit with the family? That's her favorite spot over there. Oh, okay. All right, guys. Our excavation is apparently done. So we're back here to look at the final giant hole in the ground. Thank goodness the rock hammer is off our property. That was costing like $3,000 a day to rent. And we're finally done digging. We're finally done digging. And here's what our final hole looks like. Down here in the basement, there's an extra little hole. You guys want to know what this is? Yeah. It's a body! It's not the body. It's a toilet! What is it? Come over here. I'll show you. See how there's an extra hole right here? Yeah. This is the theater room. Woo! This is where we're going to watch some movies and stuff. Why is it dug deeper? Because the ceiling is a little bit higher on this part. This is why it's so hard to dig. Look at all this rock all around the outside. Is this like gray sand? No. Why is the sand like gray? There's just rock everywhere. Therefore, whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house upon a rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon the house, and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock. So even though it's going to cost a lot more to build our house on a rock, I think it's probably worth it in the end.
