The restaurant owner there “Ignacio Nacho Anaya” invented the nachos in 1943. He prepared the “nachos” for some American military wives that were in town. He quickly fried some tortillas and put warm cheese and jalapenos on top of them. He called them “Nacho’s special.” They became a hit right away and took off in different versions in many restaurants. When Ignacio “nacho” Anaya died in 1975, his town created International Day Of The Nacho in his remembrance.
