Mastering the Art of Beautiful and Adorable Japanese Wagashi Cakes

The shop we asked to photograph is Kōbēya Miyake, a wagashi shop in Tochigi Prefecture that has become popular on social media for its cute animal-themed Japanese sweets.
Born into a family of wagashi artisans and being an animal lover, the owner couldn't have pets due to family circumstances. To create something for people who, like him, can't keep pets, he started making these animal-shaped wagashi.
Each piece is carefully handmade, and not only the appearance but also the ingredients, such as long yam, are carefully selected. These sweets are also popular as gifts, and the online store often sells out within minutes after the products go live.
