In this video, Casey from scoot-tuning com will explain how to adjust your belt for your scooter and why this is important.
Alright guys, this is a little video to show you how to adjust the drive belt on a front pulley.
The understanding of how to and how to do it, obviously.
First things off, obviously you want the drive belt to be sitting as low as you can and as tight as you can in the rear pulley.
It needs to be out of the pulley as high as you can and in front it needs to be as low as you can.
Obviously any kind of kit, Molossi, Stage6, even Pellini kits, it always comes with a little kit of washers that comes like this.
People don't actually always understand what's going on with that washer and don't know where to put them.
It's actually a drive belt adjustment.
Some drive belts actually, like either Stage6 or Athena, the drive belts are always a bit larger right here.
What it actually does, it's really good on the top end, but sometimes it's better off readjusting the drive belt while putting this little washer right here.
To let down the drive belt as low as you can to get that little extra take off, which is really interesting for daily use.
Something we really need to remember is that right here we have a groove where actually the washer sits directly in it, which is really interesting.
Sometimes you have some larger ones, you got smaller ones.
There's some kits, little Stage6 kits right here that are really interesting, which comes in kits of 30-something washers.
They're all different kinds of size, which is a really good thing to have any kind of transmission update.
From there, what you want really is to have your variator sitting, like I was telling you, as low as you can.
Install everything.
What you want to see right now is that when you install everything with the drive belt on, obviously,
is that you don't want to be able to move the drive belt, but you want it to be sitting as low as you can.
Sometimes what's going to happen, if we take the washer off right here,
what is going to happen is that the drive belt is going to get squeezed, and it's going to actually get high in the pulley, which is going to kill your take off, which is really not interesting.
Right there, it's even tighter, but your problem is that it's sitting so high that it's pretty much taking off in second gear, which is a major, major problem.
That is the reason why there is always a kit that we actually try to always sell a kit of adjustments.
Obviously, if it can actually come with a kit, we do recommend to do a final drive adjustment because it may be always a problem on take off.
Some people tend to make a clutch slip, which is not a good way to go because the drive belt is too high.
Readjusting a drive belt really solves any kind of problem and actually saves lives on the clutch and the drive belt, which is really interesting.
Sometimes it cancels all the heat that can be actually accumulated from either drive belt slipping, either if it's too thin or too large.
Too thin would actually be a problem where the drive belt is too worn out.
Obviously, all the kit right here is new.
From there, you can actually work it out pretty easily.
