SpaceX Found A Brilliant Solution To Land Starship On Droneship, NASA Stunned...
Landing a rocket on a droneship has never been easy.
But SpaceX spent five years perfecting the technique with Falcon 9, it’s become a signature move, uniquely theirs.
And now, with Starship rising, that proven method is about to scale up.
Specifically, SpaceX has already filed detailed plans with the FAA to set Starship down on floating sea platforms, even though the task is far tougher than anything Falcon ever faced.
So, how will they overcome these challenges? When can we expect them?
Let’s break it all down on today’s episode of Alpha Tech.
SpaceX Found A Brilliant Solution To Land Starship On Droneship, NASA Stunned...
Landing on a droneship? That’s old news, at least when we’re talking about Falcon 9. For longtime SpaceX followers, it’s almost routine now. Out of 471 successful landings, an impressive 361 have been on droneships, that’s about 75%!
And we’re not talking about random barges. These are legendary platforms with names like Just Read the Instructions, Of Course I Still Love You, and A Shortfall of Gravitas.
But what if Starship, the giant bound for Mars, could land on a droneship too?
That would be huge. It would grab global attention and spark endless debate, because this isn’t just any rocket.
This is the one SpaceX is building for Mars.

So if it can pull off a clean landing at sea, it means we’re one step closer to nailing a gentle, leg-powered touchdown on the Martian surface, turning humanity’s dream of reaching another world into reality.
But to get there, SpaceX still has work to do. They’re pouring everything into Starship’s test flights, pushing the limits, learning from every launch, and proving this beast can survive the fiery chaos of reentry.
The Massey site is set to undergo major upgrades soon, and a static fire test at Launch Pad A is currently being prepared. If all goes well, Starship Flight 10 is expected to launch sometime in mid-August.
Only after these fundamentals are nailed down, reentry, control, reliability, can SpaceX move on to the next big piece: landing legs.
And they’re not starting from scratch.
