Hello, I'm Christine Miller and I want to welcome you to today's episode.
In previous episodes, we've been discussing a very important topic and that is the topic
of healing.
You know, God wants people healed and well.
He's a good God.
Only a good God would want good things for their people.
You know, there are many gods with a little g out there in our world today that people
worship.
And as far as I can tell, none of them is looking out for the goodness of mankind.
But our God, the one true God, our Heavenly Father and Jesus, His only Son, they have
sacrificed so that you and I could live a life of health and victory every day.
And so today we're going to continue along the lines of healing because it's such an
important subject.
You know, the Bible tells us that we're going to have what we hear and what we believe.
And so if you don't hear the truth, you have nothing to believe.
If you don't believe it, you can't receive it.
And so we're going to discuss this topic because it's so important.
You know, if you want to live a long life, that's important.
But if while you're here you want to live a quality life, you need to have health and
healing in your body.
So as we continue along these lines today, we're going to discuss a different aspect
that the Bible talks about, but it all has to do with healing.
You know, I don't think that anybody in their right mind would dispute that sickness and
disease are evil and they're bad.
You know, I worked as a registered nurse for many decades, and one of the things that I
saw is that people will spend a lot of money to get help and to get relief from sickness
and disease.
Now, if all those people thought it was such a good thing, they would just stay sick and
they wouldn't waste their money.
So I think that there are some double standards when it comes to this topic.
But as a rule, we know that people know healing is a good thing and sickness is bad.
So historically, people have been looking for the fountain of youth.
You know, we read stories about it, all the time you'll see commercials and somebody's
offering a new miracle cure for wrinkles.
You know, recently I saw one for crepe skin, and I'm thinking, if that works so great,
how can they sell it for only $49.95?
Just be wise about those things, people.
If it was that great, everybody would be using it and talking about it.
But my point is that people are continually looking for cures to vanquish disease.
And rightfully so, because disease is not a good thing.
But the good news is, Jesus has already vanquished it.
He paid the price.
So you don't need a miracle cure from the outside or from human-made tactics.
You can receive the miracle cure from Jesus himself.
He is the source of life.
By his stripes, we were healed.
And we just have to believe it and receive it.
So today, I want to continue to establish the truth that divine healing belongs to us.
We're going to look at a passage in Matthew 15, verses 22-28.
I'm reading from the New King James Version.
And it says,
Now she's crying out to Jesus.
And she said,
Now this seems very out of character for someone like Jesus, but we're going to go on and see why.
And his disciples came and urged him, saying,
In other words, she's being a pest.
She doesn't have a covenant with God.
She's an outsider.
Let's send her away.
Now how many know Jesus is not a liar?
This is the truth.
When Jesus came, his primary mission was to minister to those that had a covenant with
God, the house of Israel.
And this woman was not a daughter of Abraham.
But this woman came and worshipped him, saying,
In other words, I understand I don't qualify, but I'm begging you, help me.
And he answered and said,
Wow.
I mean, two important points in this verse alone.
First of all, Jesus is calling healing or deliverance the children's bread.
So if you're a child of God, if you have a covenant with God, you qualify for the children's
bread.
But then he said, I'm not supposed to take this bread and cast it to the little dogs.
So what was he doing?
He was calling this woman a dog.
Now in our society today, where everybody's so touchy-feely and everything has to be politically
correct, Jesus wouldn't have been in big trouble calling this woman a dog.
But you notice she didn't take offense at this, which is the wise thing to do if you
want to receive healing from heaven.
She said,
In other words, I agree with you, I don't qualify.
Compared to those that have a covenant, I am a dog.
But she said,
Now this is an important statement too, because she's got revelation here that a lot of believers
don't have today.
In other words, I don't need a whole loaf.
I don't even need a piece of bread.
All I need is a crumb.
You know, God's power is so great, all you need is a little dab and it'll do a great
thing in your life.
So we see here, again, Jesus called healing the children's bread.
Well, who are the children?
You know, again, during the time of this event, when this took place, the children of God
were those that were of the seed of Abraham.
They were of the lineage of Abraham, who made a covenant with God.
So they were under an Abrahamic covenant.
And if they were born into that family, then they, by right, they were a child of God and
they had a rightful, the right to actually obtain healing from heaven.
The only problem is, is during this time of Jesus, very few people were receiving healing.
They actually had forgotten that that was part of their covenant.
But they had Psalm 103, just like we do today, which says,
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name.
And it goes on to say that He heals all of our, or He forgives all of our sins and He
heals all of our sicknesses and diseases.
So they had this covenant, but few were enjoying the benefits of the covenant.
So the people that Jesus is referring to here when He says the children are the seed of
Abraham.
But, thank God, if we're in the new covenant today, and we have made Jesus as our Lord
and Savior, we too are called the seed of Abraham.
So we're going to go on and look at some of that.
This woman was not a daughter of Abraham.
She didn't have a covenant, but she had faith.
Do you know that faith will always supersede covenant?
You know, think about this, if you know the stories of the Old Testament, when the spies,
the two spies were sent out by Joshua to spy out the land of Jericho.
There was a woman called Rahab, and she was a harlot.
She was not a child of Abraham, not considered a child of God.
And yet her faith caused her to save the spies and help them go on their way.
And because of that, she was rescued when they came and took over Jericho.
So even though she didn't have a covenant, we see time and time again under the Old Covenant
in the stories that those that did not have a covenant with God, if they released faith
in God, they received just like those that had a covenant.
And actually, Abraham received the covenant he did because of his faith, not because of
any righteous deeds that he did.
So faith is a common thread throughout the entire Bible.
And this woman had faith that if I could just get a crumb, just a crumb of that bread, my
daughter can be healed.
And Jesus was so impressed by that, he said, go your way, your daughter is healed, you're
getting your desire.
If you could just see that it's simple to receive healing, you could have faith and
receive your healing today, too.
So we see that another thing that throughout history, let's look at this concept called
bread.
Throughout history, bread has been a main staple for life in every culture.
So back in this day of Jesus, bread was a main staple.
We would call it pita bread today or unleavened bread at times, but bread was part of their
daily sustenance.
And how fitting that Jesus would call healing bread.
Bread is for everyone.
It's not just for a few select people.
Even the poorest person could obtain bread.
And if they couldn't, they would have died of starvation.
And so what Jesus was really saying is, bread is for everybody, therefore healing is for
everybody.
Healing is for you, whether you're rich or poor, whether you're old or young, it's a
staple of life.
Now Jesus in another text actually referred to himself as the bread of life.
And we're going to look at that in John chapter 6, verses 48 through 50.
Jesus said, I am the bread of life.
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and are dead.
This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.
So he's now comparing the manna which came down from heaven.
Now back again, if you don't know your Old Testament, when God delivered the children
of Israel out of Egypt, they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years.
But yet, now they were there because of disobedience, because it should have only been about one
to two weeks.
But while they were there, he still supernaturally provided for them.
So every morning they would wake up and they would find this bread that was kind of like
wafers on the ground.
That was supernatural.
And it rained down from heaven, it was supernatural.
Another place in the Bible called it angel's food.
But Jesus is saying here, your fathers ate that manna in the wilderness and they died.
They didn't get spiritual life from it.
But this is the bread.
I am the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.
He says, I am the living bread which came down from heaven.
If anyone eats of this bread, he'll live forever.
And the bread that I shall give is my flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.
So we see again, there are many types and shadows in the Old Testament that were supposed
to alert people of what was to come.
So that when the fulfillment of those things came, we'd recognize and say, oh yeah.
So Jesus today, he was a type of that.
That manna was a type of him, I should say.
I have that backwards.
The manna was a type of Jesus who was to come.
The only thing is that like anything with a type and shadow is it falls so short of
the real.
But now Jesus has come, he's the bread of life sent down from heaven.
And that life, when we'll partake of that bread, will sustain us.
Now think about this.
If the bread of life will give us spiritual life, will it not that much more give us health
and healing?
See the whole cause of sickness and disease is spiritual failure, spiritual death.
Our whole world is filled with spiritual death.
And the Bible says Satan is the god of this world system.
He is spiritually dead.
And those that follow him are walking in deadness and darkness.
But when we get spiritual life in us, when we accept the bread of life, when we accept
Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we're made spiritually alive.
And now that life quickens our mortal body and we can have health and healing as well.
So Jesus said, the bread that I shall give is my flesh.
Now that's an interesting statement.
So let's look at what the Bible says about the flesh of Jesus.
In John chapter 1 and verse 14, it says the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
And we beheld his glory.
The glory is of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
So we see from this scripture, Jesus is the Word of God made flesh.
In other words, the Word of God always existed with the Father.
It existed in the beginning.
It exists eternally.
But now Jesus comes from heaven.
He is the Word of God and he took on the form of man in the flesh.
So therefore, if Jesus is the bread of life, we could say it this way, the Word of God
is the bread of life.
And as we feed upon the Word of God, we're feeding upon the bread of life.
Now further on in John, in John chapter 6, verses 53 through 58, Jesus said to them,
Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his
blood, you have no life in you.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up
at the last day.
For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him, as the living Father
has sent me, and I live because of him.
So he who feeds on me will live because of me.
So Jesus is saying, the reason I have spiritual life is because of my Father, and the reason
you're going to have spiritual life is because of me.
And who is he?
He's the bread of life.
What is the bread of life?
The Word of God.
So the more time we spend with the Word of God, the more of his life we have, the more
that we really live.
Then Jesus went on to say in that passage, he who feeds on me will live.
How are we to feed on his flesh?
You know, at this point, the majority of the people that followed Jesus throughout his
earthly ministry departed from him and followed him no more, because they misunderstood what
he said.
You know, the words of life can only be revealed to us by the Spirit of God.
And so many people hear words, but it goes right over their heads.
They don't hear it correctly.
That's why Jesus said again and again, you have to hear what the Spirit of the Lord is
saying, not with your physical ears, but with your spiritual ears.
And so Jesus was not endorsing cannibalism.
Praise God for that.
But that's what they thought.
They thought he literally was telling them, we've got to eat your flesh, we've got to
drink your blood, or we're lost.
And they thought, this is a hard saying.
Who can receive it?
Well, naturally, if you don't get the spiritual interpretation, that would be a hard saying.
But he went on further in this chapter in verse 63, and he said, it's the Spirit who
So in other words, eating his flesh wouldn't profit you anything.
He said, the words that I speak to you are Spirit, and they are life.
So again, it's the Word of God that brings us the life.
It's the Word of God that brings the healing.
We say Jesus is the healer, and this is true.
Jesus is the healer, but he heals us through his Word.
So we have to have his Word.
You know, you could come to a good church like ours.
You could have hands laid on you for healing, and you could receive healing.
But I guarantee, if you don't eventually get the Word of God that talks about healing,
if you don't take that Word and put it in your heart and meditate on it every day, the
devil will eventually be able to bring that sickness back into your life, because it's
the Word that gives life.
So we keep that Word before us.
Now in closing on this topic for today, I have one more scripture I want to bring out,
and that's from the 23rd Psalm.
And that talks about the Lord is our shepherd.
Many people know this psalm, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want, I shall not lack
for any good or beneficial thing.
But then in verse 3, it says this, you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You know, God has a table prepared for his children.
Are there enemies?
Certainly there are enemies.
They're all around us.
But thank God the table's there in the presence of our enemies.
We don't have to wait for them to disappear to enjoy what's on the table.
And so he's prepared a table for us, and I wonder, is there any bread on the table?
Yes, there's bread on the table.
There's healing bread on the table.
You know, one of our enemies surrounding us is sickness and disease, but right in the
presence of sickness and disease, there's healing bread on the table.
The problem is, so many people are seated at the table, but they're turning around this
way, and they're turning around that way, and they're looking at what the enemy's doing.
Get your eyes off of the enemy and get your eyes on the bread.
Get your eyes on the Word.
Keep your eyes focused on the goodness of God and what's sitting on the table, because
there is absolutely bread on the table for the believer.
And we're invited to partake of that every day.
We can partake of it every moment of every day.
There are no limits to how much bread you can have.
So we can do that right now.
I want to pray for you today.
If you have been suffering sickness or disease in your body, God wants you well.
So Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift up this person who's watching, who's believing
to receive healing.
I speak life and health to your body.
I command sickness and disease to go from you in the name of Jesus.
And I release the healing power of God by faith into your body, from the top of your
head to the soles of your feet.
Be healed, receive the bread of life, and go your way in health and in peace.
In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
If you received that healing today through that prayer, we want to hear from you.
So we encourage you to write to us and let us know about it.
Also, if you were encouraged by today's message, I want to encourage you to like, share, and
subscribe to our channel.
Until next time, I want to remind you that God has a great plan for your life, and it's
much bigger than you know.
God bless you.
