You've all been asking me how I style my hair, so here you go! I'll show you my simple daily hair routine, what I ask my barber, and the products I use. This style lasts me throughout the day and it's a very easy style to maintain.
One of the things I get asked the most and I'm flattered you like it
is how do you style your hair? So I'm going to show you how.
I'm sorry it's taken me so long to make this video but better late than never
and I'm going to show you the styling process, what I ask my hairdresser when I
go and get it cut and the products I use and all the
products will be linked in the description box if you're
interested. If you're new here I don't normally make hair content on this
channel but if you want to see more then get down there and demolish that
like button and let me know but let's get into
what I tell my hairdresser when I get it cut
first.
So my hair right now is about two weeks post-cut
so it's not at its sharpest but I normally get it cut
every five weeks. I'm lucky enough to have a really talented hairdresser so it
makes styling my hair a lot easier but what I ask for when I
go in is a medium length textured haircut with a
The reason I ask for an off center parting is because my hair naturally
parts slightly off center and I prefer the not quite perfect
straight down the middle look but if you want to go straight down the
middle go straight down the middle it's not going to change up the look
that much. If your hairdresser has a feather blade then ask them to use it
this adds a lot of texture into your hair but if they don't have one
they can still get texture into your hair with scissors so it's not a problem
For the sides I ask for the sides to come just
over the top of my ear so they're long enough where I can wear them tucked
behind my ear or I can wear it a bit loosey-goosey so
it comes over my ear but not long enough where it's like
kind of bulking out and makes me look like a dog or something
When it comes to the back I know mullets are really on trend at the moment
but I like it where you can just see a little bit of the back poking out
from a front on view but do whatever suits you best
It's not going to change up the style of the hair that much if you want to go
longer and if you don't want to remember all of that you can always take a picture
of my haircut into your hairdresser and they can just
use that or find one online. If you want to find a picture of my
haircut you can head over to my instagram
and while you're there you may as well give me a follow it'd be rude not to
but I think that's everything when it comes to the cut but let me show you how
I style my hair next. The first thing I do is I wash my hair
and the shampoo and conditioner that works really well for me
is this curl stuff from John Frieda. I know I don't have curly hair but I've
got wavy hair and I want to encourage the waves you
know? But this stuff is sulfate free it leaves my hair in a great state
so what more could you want? After washing my hair I towel dry it so it's
damp not wet just damp and then it's time to
style it. So the first thing I do when styling my hair is I go in
with salt spray. I use this one called ocean mist by
I definitely butchered that pronunciation but what's new?
I go in with four pumps of this stuff no more
no less and then I comb it through my hair with this wet brush
so it coats my hair evenly. This is hands down the best salt spray I've
ever used. I used to think salt spray was just salt spray so it didn't matter
which brand you used but it turns out it does. The next thing
I do is apply a tiny bit of gravity paste from
It says this stuff has got a high hold but it definitely doesn't
and it doesn't give my hair a medium shine either even though it says it does.
This just gives my hair a bit of hold and it makes it less frizzy
but it's very subtle. I put a big pea-sized amount onto my finger and then
rub that into my hand so they're evenly covered.
I then go into my damp hair with my hands and get it in there.
The reason I put it into damp hair is because it's easier to get an even
distribution of the product through my hair. I then
get my wet brush out again and then it's time to comb my hair back
again. After my hair's all combed back nicely I part my hair just off center
like I mentioned earlier and I try and get the parting as neat
and straight as possible. I then pull a wacky face apparently
because I can't be tamed. Anyway after pulling silly faces at the
camera it's time to get drying. I use this dryer from Shark and I put
it on a medium heat to start with. It is pretty pricey but it's a really
good dryer. I don't use any attachments or anything like that so no diffusers, no
nozzles, I just go in raw. So when I'm drying my hair I like to
kind of comb it back a bit and I always start on the right hand
side at the front and then work my way back. Back combing
gives my hair more volume. My hair's never been the thickest
so I like to get as much volume in there as possible. Once that's a bit drier but
still not dry I move on to the left hand side and do
the exact same thing. I then go back and forth to each side
but I make sure the parting is always kept in place.
That's very important. And when it's almost dry but still a bit damp I go to
the back of the hair and then just kind of run my hand up and
down the hair like this to dry it. Once that's done I then come back to the
front to get that finished off and then I go in with a cooler setting
to cool my head off. As it's summer I'm usually boiling at this point so I need
this to cool me down and to cool my hair down and hold it in
place a bit. If I want a slightly messier finish I go in with my hands and then
just use my fingers to mess up the hair a bit while I dry it
and then I just go in with the comb one more time to finish it off.
So sometimes I'll just leave it there but if I want more of a hold
and a bit of a messier finish I'll sprinkle in a tiny bit of this hair
powder from Dapper Dan. I only put a very light dusting on the
top of my hair because I don't want too much of this in my hair.
It's powerful stuff. You can always add more but if you add too much you won't
be able to get your fingers through your hair
and you'll have to wash it out. I've used so many different powders over the years
and this one from Good Old Dan gives me the best results.
It smells really nice too and who doesn't want their hair to smell nice?
I know I do. I know this all sounds like quite a lot of work but it takes me
about five to ten minutes minus the washing part
so it's quite a quick routine. My hair stays like this all throughout the day
too so it's a really easy style to maintain.
So there you have it. Give my routine a go and see how you get on.
If you've got any questions ask me in the comments and I'll get back to you.
But thank you so much for watching. If this was helpful please do leave it a
like. Don't forget to hit subscribe and I will
see you all next week. Unless you're just here for the hair
content then I probably won't because it's going to be a fashion video next
week. But see you in the next hair one if I do
one. Anyway I'm waffling now. See you later.
