Okay, let's jump straight into the tutorial.
So to help you achieve top marks in your interview
and get hired at the very first attempt,
I will cover the following three things in this tutorial.
Number one, I will tell you
how you will be scored during your interview.
You will be scored against three criteria.
If you know what the criteria are,
it makes it easy for you to pass.
Number two, I will then teach you the five steps
you must follow to pass your job interview.
And then finally, number three, I will tell you
where you can instantly download my full set
of 100 brilliant answers to difficult interview questions.
Okay, let me start by telling you
how you'll be scored during your interview.
There are three criteria
the hiring manager will assess you against.
Here they are.
Interview scoring criteria number one is presentation.
Now the hiring manager is looking to see
how you present yourself at the start of your interview
and also throughout the entire interview.
Make sure you dress professionally,
knock before you enter the interview room,
don't sit down until invited to do so,
give a firm handshake while maintaining eye contact,
and then sit upright in the chair throughout.
Interview scoring criteria number two
is communication skills.
Now the hiring manager wants to assess
how you communicate when answering their questions.
So slow down your pace of speaking,
speak up so they can hear you,
and practice your answers
to the most common interview questions beforehand
so you come across as confident and articulate.
And interview scoring criteria number three is evidence.
Evidence is details of when you
have previously been in situations
that are required in the job you are applying for.
Now the hiring manager will want to hear evidence
of when you have worked as part of a team,
worked under pressure, prioritized your workload,
dealt with conflict in the workplace,
and provided excellent customer service.
Now if this is your very first job interview
and you have no previous work experience,
they will ask you what you would do in those situations.
Okay, now we know how you will be assessed
at your job interview.
Let me teach you those five easy steps
you must follow when preparing for an interview
to get the highest scores achievable.
Here we go.
Preparing for an interview step number one.
Make sure you quickly research the company
before you attend the interview.
Look at their website About Us page
and read up on their history,
achievements, and plans for the future.
Look at what products and services they sell.
Make sure you know exactly what they do.
And finally, follow them on social media
and take note of their latest posts and news stories.
Preparing for an interview step number two.
Make sure you get your answer ready
to the first interview question, tell me about yourself.
This is very important.
Now at the start of your interview,
you will be the most nervous.
If you give a confident answer
to the question tell me about yourself,
you will quickly gain confidence
and create a great first impression.
Now when preparing your answer
to the first interview question, tell me about yourself,
I recommend using the format past, present, and future.
You can start talking about your past.
Now this should include the academic grades you achieved
and where you have previously worked.
You can then talk about the present,
including what you currently do,
the skills and qualities you possess,
and details of any significant achievements
you have gained in life so far.
And then finally, talk about the future.
Tell them what your career goals are
and what you will do for their company if they hire you.
So let me quickly give you a fantastic scripted answer
to that question, tell me about yourself,
that uses the past, present, and future format.
Here we go.
My name is Richard and thank you for the opportunity
to be interviewed for this position today.
I left college with excellent grades in subjects
that will be useful to this industry.
I previously worked in various positions
where the need to collaborate with co-workers
on difficult tasks, meet tight deadlines,
and prioritize my work against the company's objectives
were the norm.
I now have the skills and qualities
to match the job description.
I am a fast and diligent worker, an excellent communicator,
and always provide outstanding service to customers,
which helps increase sales
and enhances my employer's reputation.
If I am successful and you hire me,
I plan to build a long-term career here
and continually develop my knowledge and skillset
so I am always a highly useful member of the team.
Preparing for an interview, step number three.
Write down a list of your greatest strengths
before you attend your interview.
This is a brilliant thing to do
because it focuses your mind
on what you can bring to their company.
Let me give you a list of the five most sought-after strengths
all hiring managers look for.
Strength number one is taking ownership
of problems and challenges.
Now, most people pass them on to their manager to deal with,
but if you can deal with them yourself, or at least try,
this is a great strength.
Strength number two is discipline.
This is a great one.
Now, if you are a disciplined person
who doesn't need to be reminded of what their tasks are
and you always complete everything on time,
the hiring manager will definitely be interested
in hiring you.
Strength number three is trustworthiness and loyalty.
Now, if you are looking to work for the company long-term,
will be loyal to their brand,
and can be trusted to follow company rules and procedures,
your chances of getting hired will definitely increase.
Strength number four is creativity.
Now, some of the best employees are creative.
Creative employees produce ideas
to help their employer grow,
and they seek smart and clever ways
to solve challenges and problems whenever they occur.
And strength number five is positivity and enthusiasm.
Now, positive people are great to have in a team.
If you are enthusiastic,
always look on the positive side of things
and are willing to embrace change,
then again, the hiring manager
will definitely want to hire you.
Preparing for an interview, step number four.
Think of one weakness you have
and consider what steps you are taking
to improve on that weakness.
Now, you must answer the question,
what's your biggest weakness at your interview?
Don't make the mistake of saying
you don't have any weaknesses.
Instead, choose a genuine weakness
that won't impact your ability
to perform your duties competently.
Here's a list of three great weaknesses you can use.
Weakness number one, not being good yet at public speaking
or giving presentations to large groups of people.
Weakness number two,
finding it difficult to say no to people,
which results in you taking on too many responsibilities.
And weakness number three,
you don't like giving people honest feedback
because you prefer to avoid confrontational situations.
Preparing for an interview, step number five.
Think of three smart questions you can ask
at the end of your interview.
Here's the questions I would ask
if I were attending an interview.
Question number one,
what would my success in the job look like
in 12 months from now?
Question number two,
what advice would you give to the successful candidate
who wants to perform well in the position?
And question number three,
what's the first thing you would need me to focus on
in the role if you hire me?
Preparing for an interview bonus step number six
is to prepare a short
but powerful job interview closing statement
to say at the end of your interview.
Now, right at the very end of your interview,
I recommend saying the following words,
which will definitely help
to further convince the hiring manager
you are a great person
and someone who will compliment their team perfectly.
Say this.
Before I go, I just want to say thank you
for giving me the opportunity
to be interviewed for this position with your company.
I thoroughly enjoyed the process
and it's further confirmed my admiration for your company.
If you hire me,
I promise to give you the greatest return
on your investment.
