Inside 1450 Sq.Ft Self-Sustaining Home in the Wild of Tamilnadu | Built Without Columns | @ArchPro
Set on a flat, 12-acre land surrounded by palm and coconut groves, this 1450 sq.ft farmhouse is a profound response to nature, not an imposition on it. The home redefines architectural priorities by giving 75% importance to the natural landscape and just 25% to built form.
The structure is made using unique fold architecture technique—a self-sustaining, column-free shell crafted from thin ferrocement, mud layers, and traditional lime plaster. It breathes with the climate, forming curves and arches that invite light, air, and movement in the most organic ways.
But this isn’t just a visual story—it’s tactile, experiential, and deeply rooted in sustainability.
Rather than furnishing the space with external objects, every element—from beds and benches to kitchen counters and storage—is sculpted as part of the architecture. Scrap wood is reborn, site-sourced stone becomes seating, and lush greenery wraps around the structure, acting as both insulation and life.
💡 Design isn’t added here—it’s embedded. It evolves with the landscape, shifts with light, and flows with the user.
