1950s Unique Bullet Nose Table Fan Restoration | 75 Years Old Broken Electric Fan
Join me in this full restoration of a unique bullet nose table fan — a broken electric fan from around 1950, designed by Peter Behrens.
With its iconic Art Deco lines and solid cast iron base, this vintage fan was once a sleek piece of engineering. I bought it for €20 at a flea market in Prague.
The fan came with multiple issues: a missing shaft, a broken propeller, rust, and thick layers of old paint. Someone had attempted to repair and repaint it in the past, but the result was poor. In this restoration, I rebuild the missing shaft from scratch, remove the carbon brushes from the brushed electric motor, and fully disassemble the stator and rotor.
The cast iron body is cleaned using chemical paint stripper and aluminum oxide sandblasting. I smooth out casting defects and sharp edges, apply aluminum filler, and prepare the surface for electrostatic powder coating. After degreasing, the parts are baked at 185°C for 15 minutes to cure the finish. The propeller is polished, the rotor bushings are restored, and even the old wing nut — salvaged from a table — gets a second life.
In the end, the motor is reassembled and successfully tested. The result? A one-of-a-kind Art Deco fan that works and looks as stunning as it did over 75 years ago. #toolrestoration #restorationvideos #asmr #Restoration #VintageFan #FanRestoration #PeterBehrens #VintageElectronics #ElectricFan #OldFanRestoration #AntiqueFan
