People have a short memory lol. He nearly got Derby promoted in his first season before heading to Chelsea.
Coventry are continuing their search for a new manager following the sacking of Mark Robbins
and owner Doug King has confirmed that Frank Lampard has applied for the job.
That's right, yeah. King says he's yet to speak to Lampard but after appearing at a
fans forum event he has revealed there's been plenty of interest in the post.
We've received a huge amount of CVs from high quality people of which Frank is one
but the issue is you know we've done nothing
on that process because we've been getting through this situation today with the forum
and focusing on making sure that we were accessible and and gave answers but clearly we
you know time you're in the international break we will be assessing everything and then we'll
work out who's going to make short lists and and then we'll go interview. How quickly do you hope
to make an appointment? I think it's a tricky one as I said right if we find the right person and
and and we can all agree what we want to agree then obviously I think we can go we can go pretty
quickly if it isn't clear cut and we need to go deeper into certain things then it may take a bit
longer as I said I'm prepared for Ruiz-Clarke to take you know two, three, four more three games
if we can't get it done by the end of the international break. Does he have that elite
championship experience where I go he's going to come in and he's going to take us through the
playoffs and he's got that experience? No he got there with the with Derby with a very good pack
but ultimately it's a new time. Is he my first choice? Probably not. Out of the names that I
mentioned I'd want him over anyone else I just don't want us being Frank Lampard's commentary
city we're a big enough club without needing a manager's name in front of it. That team
cost a lot of money Doug King proved today that he wants that team to go up
the next manager that comes in is not going to get the same amount of time.
It's all right having a name behind the frame but Birmingham City did that
with Wayne Rooney great player Wayne Rooney love him to bits poor manager
Lampard great player managerial experience we've got to find out.
