Turkish Food and Cultural Festival returns in Agawam

The 4th annual Turkish Arts and Cultural Festival returns to Agawam. 22 News reporter Victoria Buddy is there. Victoria, what are people up to? Hi Christina. People here are getting a taste of the Turkish culture. They're out here ready to try foods like beef and lamb. People here say they've gathered for traditional music and food like Monta and Turkish coffee. They've gathered people from all over the community for this event. It's put on annually by the Peace Valley Foundation. Many using this opportunity to get to know others and what makes their culture so special. I married into the Turkish community and it has been extremely welcoming. I've learned that they love to share their culture and I think that is absolutely beautiful. I am West Indian. I'm from the Caribbean originally. So this is a very different culture for me but it's my husband's culture so I went to honor it. Tonight's Turkish Arts and Cultural Festival is going on until 7 in Agawam at School Street Park. People are encouraged to stop by, try some food and get to know their community. Now the Peace Valley Foundation hosts several events throughout the year including food drives and a Thanksgiving dinner.
