In 1127, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty (Bianjing) fell to the Jin Dynasty. Over 3,000 members of the Song royal family and court officials were captured and taken north as captives by the Jin Dynasty. It was known as the Jingkang Incident (or the Humiliation of Jingkang).
