No other great composer left behind as many piano duet pieces as Franz Schubert. Making music with others, often within a social circle, was an integral part of Schubert's social life. With the Fantasie in F minor, D 940, Op. posth. 103, however, Schubert moved beyond the sphere of social gatherings and, in the first months of his final year, created a work of almost symphonic form. Its elegiac opening sets the tone for the entire piece. Schubert was apparently aware of the work's significance and prepared it for publication: the autograph score already bore the opus number of the first edition, which was published in March 1829.

The video was captured near Grindelwald by Christian Schlegel and was edited by Wenjing Ma.
