Unlock the secrets to achieving massive career growth with my *proven strategy**! In this video, I share the exact steps I took to **triple my salary* and get promoted twice in just 18 months. Say goodbye to unethical tactics and hello to authentic, value-driven methods that align with both your values and your organization's goals.
What is the best way to get a pay rise?
Deserve it.
There are ways to get promotions and pay
rises that are unethical.
There are ways to do it that are
that are that just are uncomfortable or
make you an unpopular
person because you're stabbing people in
the back, playing victim or blaming
everyone.
Ultimately, you'll hit a ceiling and
you won't be able to survive with that
strategy.
So that strategy is a limited.
It's it seems like a good strategy
because you can move quickly, but you're
going to you're going to make it really
hard to get any further than that
ceiling. Whereas you use a strategy that
that sits with well with your values and
the organizational values and that they're
aligned, you can go higher, faster
and much, much further.
I'm going to give you a couple of ideas
that you can implement right now.
And the first one is called the Weekly
Progress Report.
And in the Weekly Progress Report, what
you're going to do is it's just an email
with little headings and a couple of
bullet points.
And in each heading is the
following.
What I've accomplished this week,
what I've completed this week, what I'm
working on next, my next five
priorities, what I need help
with and some insight
to observations from the week.
And you create that as a simple email
to send to your manager once a week on a
lull period during the week, like
Wednesday 10 a.m.
or something like that.
Send that to your manager.
You do this every week.
Then when it comes to your performance
review, you've got 48 weeks
to 52 weeks of these
emails that you sent to your manager.
Now, what you would do is you go and
find those emails and you'd cut out the
what I've completed section, copy from
there and paste it into a document.
And you now have a list of,
you know, 100 bullet points of things
you've completed over the last 12
months. And you've and you say to your
manager, hey, I recognize
that my performance review is coming up
in a couple of weeks. I thought that
this would help. I just completed a
dossier of all the things I've
accomplished during the year and some
observations for you.
Hopefully that'll help us have a
fruitful discussion.
Now, what you've done is you've given
your manager ammunition to defend
their recommendation of your pay rise.
And you've also given them
a you've given them evidence
of what you've done, because most
managers can only remember the past
two weeks of stuff that you've done
and that big, giant thing you've
screwed up in April.
But here you've got the
whole document of everything that
you've actually managed to achieve.
We can't expect them to remember
everything we've done.
It's our responsibility.
It is your responsibility.
Your promotion and pay rise
opportunities are up to you.
Now, I've created a promotion pay
rise course and I created
this because there was a time where
when I was in corporate where I got
I tripled my salary and was
promoted twice within an 18 month
period.
And I was like, wow, this is great.
And over time, a few years later, I
look back and I go, how did I
actually do that?
Now, the model that I have is called
the build value model.
And in there, we've got examining
your beliefs.
For example, what do you think about
your manager?
Do you think your manager is a jerk?
I mean, maybe they're not a jerk.
You just think they are.
So we need to change our beliefs the
way that we're seeing
our manager, because if we think
they're a jerk and they're not, they
can feel it.
And that's going to impact your
career prospects.
Here's the other thing.
Maybe they are a jerk.
Now, if they are a jerk, we need to
look at the second part of the build
value model.
Build is beliefs.
The second one is uncover.
We can't be only visible
to one decision maker in
the organization.
We can't have just one customer
or one person that
is responsible for our opportunities
for promotion or pay rise.
We need other influencers and
managers across the organization to
know our value.
And to do that, we need to be having
conversations with them.
Meet up with them for a cup of
coffee. Ask one of them.
Can you be my mentor for a six week
period? Love to ask you some
questions as to how I can
be an even better contributor to
the organization, to the team.
They're going to go, I wish
my people were like this.
I want you to come and work with me
on this new project.
Invariably, these are the sorts of
things that when you are delivering
excellent work and you've got more
visibility, your opportunities
increase.
The I is influence.
Learn ways to be able to influence
your manager.
Get the resources that you need.
A lot of people feel like I'm
I'm invisible.
I'm undervalued
and I'm not getting supported with
the resources I need to be able to
succeed.
Well, we need to be able to learn
how to influence that.
I've created something called the
one page business case
that's going to help you be able to
do that.
I've created videos on that.
So you can have a look in the
resources below.
There's a whole mini course
that you can do.
And the other thing I want you to do
is to continue to learn.
So there's some leadership tools in
there, like rule 15, investing 15
minutes with each of your direct
reports or investing 15 minutes
one-on-one with each of your direct
reports or your manager each week
to build the relationship, to build
trust, to share ideas.
It's critically important for you to
be able to do this, to be able to get
the promotion pay rise and also
to seek developing your people,
but also to develop yourself.
And a great way to develop yourself
is to subscribe to this channel.
You're already here.
It's giving you value.
Hit the subscribe button.
Find the bell.
Hit the bell so you get notified of
when new videos turn up
and keep learning.
Invest a portion of your time
every week to continue to learn
to become the even better version
of you. So I highly encourage you to
examine your beliefs, be more visible
in the organization, influence
your manager to get the resources,
lead your people and those around
you. If you're in a team, even better
develop yourself, develop others to
create more value in the
organization.
And that's how you deserve
a promotion and a pay rise.
The word deserve comes from
of service.
You are there to add value
and they will see that value and know
that I need to keep you.
So I'm going to ensure that you are
rewarded appropriately for your value.
So that's how that is, how
you get a promotion and a pay rise.
