Super Typhoon Yagi, the largest storm of 2024, made its second landfall in China as the 11th typhoon of the year, with Category 17 winds reaching up to 208.8 km/h. On September 6, 2024, China’s National Meteorological Center issued a red alert, the highest warning level, as Yagi intensified with winds over 234 km/h. The storm took an unusual path, avoiding Hainan Island's mountains, bypassing Haikou, and regaining strength before hitting northern Vietnam and China's border provinces. Satellite images revealed its devastating impact on Hainan, Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, forcing millions to evacuate. The violent winds and heavy rains heightened the risk of flooding and destructive flash floods.
