FAA officially approved 25 Starship Launches a Year, No More Investigations...
Wow—what a moment!
The future of Starship is officially taking off, as the proposal for the Starship Starbase has just been approved. That means more launches ahead—and no more grounding for investigations.
Meanwhile, debate continues over the White House’s proposed cuts to NASA’s budget.
And up in orbit, the International Space Station just had to perform a maneuver to avoid debris from a Chinese satellite.
We’ll break it all down on today’s episode of Great SpaceX.

Starship is currently undergoing an intense and dynamic development phase, marked by major milestones that are laying the foundation for SpaceX’s bold vision of the future. One of the most significant and recent achievements is the official approval of SpaceX’s proposal to increase the flight rate at Starbase—its dedicated Starship launch site. This proposal, which includes up to 25 launches per year, represents a massive leap forward in operational capacity and positions SpaceX to accelerate its testing, deployment, and future missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
This proposal has been under review by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) since late last year, during which public feedback was collected and environmental impacts were carefully evaluated. And now, the long-awaited green light has finally been given. The FAA has officially published the Final Tiered Environmental Assessment (EA) for Starbase. In their determination, they wrote: “After reviewing and analyzing this Final Tiered EA, including all available data and information on existing conditions and potential impacts, the FAA has determined that modifying SpaceX’s vehicle operator license supporting the increased launch and landing cadence of the Starship/Super Heavy launch vehicle would not significantly impact the quality of the human environment within the meaning of NEPA.”

This decision is a turning point. It allows SpaceX to scale up its operations at Starbase dramatically. With the ability to launch up to 25 times per year, SpaceX can now schedule one Starship mission roughly every two weeks. That’s a significant improvement over the current flight pace and marks the beginning of a far more ambitious and efficient development timeline.
These increased launches are critical for validating Starship’s performance in multiple areas, including launch, reentry, landing, and even more advanced orbital missions. Frequent testing means faster data collection, quicker iterations, and a better chance of resolving challenges before transitioning Starship into operational status for commercial and government contracts.
