First weekend that the kid goats have been outside and what a beautiful weekend it was. Tara spotted her first turtle on the pond and we started the rebuilding of the lighthouse next to the pond.

Hey, come on, kids. We're going to go
outside. Oh, your mom's out there. Yeah.
Yeah. No. No. Mommy. Mommy's outside.
Yeah. Go outside.
[Music]
Mark here. My wife Tara. And welcome to
the 10acre woods. Terra can't see
anything. Terra can't see anything.
Well, I can kind of see. Yeah, it's uh
You always want the leaves. You always
want the light behind the camera.
Leaves. Yes.
Everything is starting to bud. Another
week, everything should be green. Yeah.
So, these are the maple trees that we uh
You never planted here, right? Nope.
They just uh they just grew because of
all the all the maple trees around that
we have all down the driveway.
But then we decided because of the
shade. Yeah. Well, afternoon shade
anyway. Yeah. Not morning shade. Morning
Tucker.
busy busy
eating. Okay, our birdhouse over here
that I built with a camera in it. So, uh
we did get some action last week and uh
here is the video from that action.
So, a couple weeks ago, I did a video on
these bird feeders with the camera built
in, and we also got some action on this.
Check this out.
So, the first one, the bird, uh, did a
little checking. We kind of thought we
knew what it was and then we had it
confirmed. It's a starling. So starings
are invasive
species in North America. Apparently
they were brought to Canada because they
wanted all the birds from
Shakespeare to be in to come over to the
new land. Uh and of course nowadays we
know that if you bring other animals and
parasites uh that work well in those
areas, they don't necessarily work in uh
in in other areas uh because they push
out other native species, destroy nests.
So in that video, of course, he was
trying to he she was trying to get in uh
probably to destroy the nest. So, um,
it's a good idea that we change the size
of the hole from 2 in to inch and a
quarter. Although, there's no bird
that's nested in there anyway. Not yet.
But, we'll keep an eye. Uh, the second
one, the feeder. So, that's Danny the
squirrel. Uh, he uh she Sorry, it's
Danny with an I. She came out a couple
years ago. Uh, somebody brought her from
the city. She was injured, wasn't she?
Or they found her. They found her as a
baby. They found her as a baby, hand
raised her, found out it was too much
and brought her out here. So, she's
often found running around. And that was
just a a cute find. So, we have our
waters hooked up. So, these are now all
automated. Cleaned them out. Got them
all uh prepped and ready. The heaters
have been pulled out. And as you can see
here, uh we have them hooked up to our
our water distribution area.
So, this one here is for the sink, which
is right here. Uh, and then this one
goes to the bird area. Uh, this one here
goes around to the uh the shelter area.
And then, of course, this one here is
hooked up to uh the pony's
water. So, we've got all of our water
on. One less thing we have to worry
about.
Uh, so in here we've got a muscoi that's
been building a nest. Oh, and there she
is there. So she
is she is
sitting. Hello there. How are you? You
have babies? You have
eggs? Yeah. Okay. Well, we'll check on
on you again.
All right. So, everybody's out of here.
Uh, this is an area that we will have to
clean out. It's going to be barn and
shelter cleaning out time in the next uh
next few weeks
anyway. And out in the
[Applause]
yard. Well, good morning.
Mama's bringing out some
grains. Oh, and all heads are going to
turn. There we
[Applause]
go. Now, the grains are mainly for the
birds. Spread out very fine so that uh
everybody gets a chance to It's kind of
like a a morning Easter hunt, I guess
you could say.
Look for the grain. Find the grain. Find
it, Tinker. Find it. And she's like,
"No, I want the
[Music]
[Applause]
source." Turtles.
Oh, yes. You said that yesterday.
Yeah. Terrace saw a
turtle that was in the pond.
[Applause]
It was in the pond. Yeah, it was just on
the edge. Go Tinker. So, one project
that we need to do, and I think we're
going to start it this weekend or
today, is the
lighthouse. So, the lighthouse I built a
few years ago, cuz of course you've got
a pond, you need to have a
lighthouse. But if you
notice, there are issues.
So, I you know, I put this little
railing on here and the chain to make it
cute. Uh I think what I'll do is we'll
rebuild it, but we're not going to put
this base on to hold the water. Uh also
up here, I didn't install any kind of
caulking on here. So, water just got in,
soaked into this wood. Of course,
there's mushrooms growing on it. Uh so
uh it's designed in such a way that we
can uh pull out some of the plexiglass,
one of the panels and unscrew it from
the base, remove that whole thing, and
then we'll rebuild it. And I think what
I'm going to do is instead of painting
the top, we've got shingles. So I think
I'm going to put some shingles on the
top and remake that. So hopefully by
next weekend, we should have uh a new
lighthouse or a new top to the
lighthouse. Anyway, we'll see how the uh
the building goes. We'll do it during
the week, paint it. Uh maybe it'll be 2
weeks before we get it all finished up
the way we like it. But uh that is going
to be an a
project. So, this is the other water
that I hooked up. Uh same uh little
spring. So, it's a little spring
2800. Um and the hose goes
underneath and kind of comes up. We got
so many hoses. I just figured, well,
let's just use a hose. I've got a lot of
plumbing pipe as well I could have used,
but this worked in a pinch. And it runs
over and of course runs around the
corner to where that hookup is. And here
we go. Can't wait to get
outside. Says, "Where's your babies?"
Says, "Ah, the babies can fend for
themselves." Now, here comes
Holly. Come on, Holly.
Yeah. Yeah. Looking for food. There
might be something, right? Go on out and
the babies. I can hear
[Music]
them. Come on out,
[Music]
kids. Ma, where are you going? Ma, no,
that's not your mom. That's Tucker.
Yep. Go outside.
[Music]
Oh, we're just waking
up from our nap. Oh, and having a
[Music]
pee. So, this one this one is doing
wonderfully. So, um, excellent. Both
ears are up. Uh, lot more energy.
Um, she just had a little little rough
start. You can see she is
smaller.
So, quite a bit smaller. But, uh, but
she's doing really good. Hey, come on,
kids. We're going to go outside. Oh,
your mom's out there. Yeah. Yeah. No.
No. Mommy. Mommy's outside. Yeah. Go
outside. The mom's like, "We're out."
Yeah. Yeah. The moms are like, "The kids
will find us. We can hear them.
Uh, we'll just play.
We'll just play, won't you? All right.
Come on, kids. Let's go
out. Come on out. No, no, no, no. You're
not jumping out. Come on. This way. This
way. Go on. Go on. Out you go. Out you
go. Out you go. There. Someone's got the
idea. Come
on. Come
on. There we go. There we
go. Yep. Your mom's out
here. Yep. Keep on
going. Keep on going out. Out you
go. Well, there we go. Mom, it's been so
long. We missed you.
And of course Holly, she's over there.
She's like, "Yeah, the kids are
fine." And there's
Toby barking at probably Charlie. I
don't even know where to Oh, Toby's over
there barking at Charlie cuz that's what
dogs do. They like to bark at the
pigs. Okay, we're good. We're out. Oh, I
just felt somebody come. Oh, that was
Tucker. ran into the back of
me. I think he had a little a little
zooi. Yeah, warmer
weather. And uh everybody's all excited.
Stop it. What are you doing? That's your
brother. They're so cute to
watch. Sit out here and just I'm
thinking about doing like a time lapse
of the day.
Whoa.
[Music]
King of the castle. We got lots of
things for them to jump on.
[Music]
[Music]
Is that Sheldon?
There we go. That's the plang we were
missing last weekend from these
two. Sounds like we have two geese on
the pond that are just leaving. Yeah,
just flew over the house.
Yeah, they often stop
in. Okay, in here we only have one
peacock left. So, we had uh the breeding
pair. Yeah, the uh the two of them, the
breeding pair headed out last week, was
it? Yesterday. Or yesterday? Yeah. Okay.
Yesterday. Um somebody who was just
totally loves his birds. Uh I've known
him for a few years. Well, many many
many years cuz Tiana was about five or
six when she got quail from them. Oh, is
this the one that does that? We get some
birds every so often from them. Nope.
That's Patrick. That's a different one.
That's a different one. No, this his
whole barn is dedicated to birds and
just he just loves them. He's got two
farms and he sets them up and so the
kids have always wanted to keep up.
Okay. He uh he took the Yeah. the
breeding pair which is good because then
they're not fighting. Yeah. Uh well, in
the Avery that we took down last year
for the solar, uh these guys would have
been in this smaller area until we built
something back up. So, this gives this
male a little bit more breathing
room. And
uh it's uh it'll give us a little bit
more time to to get things built up.
Yeah, I put Onyx in here. Uh she's Yeah,
you said she was a little off. She was a
little off yesterday. I'm not sure if it
was heat related. Okay. She's eating
now, which is good. It's cooler in here.
Yeah. Um I mean,
she's she's she's she has been getting
stuck in corners a lot more lately.
Well, that's something she's always
done, but Yeah. But so, you know, she
may just be having a hiccup. She has
those every once in a while.
Um so, I'll give her She looks
stiff in the back end.
If you recall,
hey. Yeah, I know. Quiet over there. If
you recall, she when she came in, she
had some major back end issues. Yes. And
she's the way she's standing, her feet
are slightly forward, so she's stiff.
So, I'll give her some pain.
Uh she just she just looks like if my
arthritis was bad, that's what it would
remind me of. Yeah. Onyx came in a
number of years ago. Um, we figured she
fell off the back of a truck tossed or
tossed. She had so many back end issues.
The black sheep of the family, but she
was found on the side of the highway
just at kind of in the middle of
nowhere. No other farms around. She she
couldn't have really made it that far
because her size. Yeah. So, somebody
brought her in here and she's always
always been a little special, a little
slow. So, and very messed up in the back
end, but she kind of got over, but I
know. And how old is she now? Four. I
want to say four or five. Yeah. Yeah.
So, I'll give you some pain meds. I
understand the arthritic issues could be
pretty bad. Everybody has little times
where they need a little something
extra, right, Onyx?
Yeah. Okay. Um, so Penny's
babies. Uh, so we saw them last
weekend and we've still got this one
down here sitting. So she didn't really
go anywhere when I stepped over and
she's not going to
now. Uh, but here we
are. Wh Penny.
and her
babies. So, six of them, all six of them
are still
good. They're inside with no predators.
So, that's good because that's a that's
a big issue when uh especially, you
know, like those ducks, the muscoi
outside. Uh when she hatches them, she's
going to take them out onto the pond and
we will lose some of them to predators.
Uh crows tend to be the biggest um
biggest predator concern especially for
for little animals. So we try to keep
them keep them as contained as possible.
And these guys being um you know kind of
a sarama cross. So this is a a sarama
which is
probably who the dad
is. And so they're going to be small.
Oh, and then the other nest that was in
the corner. Oh, right in that back
corner. Yeah. A kindergarten teacher
uh contacted and wanted to incubate buy
eggs to incubate for her classroom. Oh,
okay. So, uh I didn't they didn't charge
her. Um I just said when they're born
they can come back. And she's like, "Are
you really?" Oh. Cuz they don't never
know what to do with them when they're
hatched. So I said, "Yeah, you take that
nest." Nobody's sitting on them. We know
they're fertile.
Oh, boy. Oh, star bed.
And then they can come back after. Okay.
So, she's going to hatch them out. She
has an incubator. Yeah. Oh, good. Good.
And we've done that a number of times in
the past. Yeah. I give them the eggs. I
give them the feed for the So, it's no
cost.
So, it's no cost to the teachers, right,
to educate the kids on something they
need to know. Wonderful. Yeah. So, uh,
and then
I mean then they get hatched. Yeah. Then
they come back and 90% of the time you
end up with more roosters than Yeah.
than him. Oh, speaking of roosters. I
know. I love my roosters.
Well, it's just they can be so noisy.
You can't have a conversation. Well,
that's Tank Junior.
Or you have to know when to stop your
You brought Tank Junior in because he
was getting beat up. Yeah. Ah, he's
just, you know, it's the strangest
thing. Like, look at the size of this
rooster. Like, he is he's
massive, but he gets beat up by the
smallest of
birds. It's kind of like Lucifer the cat
inside the house. He's the largest cat
of the nine black cats we have. And the
girls just pick on him and swat him if
if he looks at them. If he looks at them
strange, right? So Tank Jr. is kind of
the same thing. He's a big rooster. He
looks like he can hold his own, but no,
he's just a big baby.
Canola.
Canola. canola
that gives you the uh omega what is it
three six mega six some some kind of
omega
omega six
oh and uh so this uh goat stand that we
built and of course I talked about this
I think it was last weekend uh so it
works great and everything uh we talked
about this being way too big she cut out
each half didn't really measure it and
divide it in half to figure out what the
end hole would be, but it's too big. So,
I went and picked up one of those pool
noodles, and I think that's going to
shrink it down, and it's going to give a
little bit of uh comfort to the uh to
that. So, I meant to bring that out this
morning, but I'll have to grab that, cut
it in half, and then split it and figure
out how we're going to Junior was
pooping all mount it. Yeah, that's the
problem with having birds run loose in
the main area of the barn. You have
large poops.
Yeah, large poops.
He's like, "But I got to go when I got
to go."
All right. So, there we go. There's the
update in the barn here. Oh, uh, the
rabbits. No, I missed. Oh, no babies.
Okay, so this one. No, look
right here. She is. Okay, so you guys
are all our
followers. You
know, we contained her away from all
males. Period. Babies were removed. No
chance of getting locked up. Like, what
do we name her? Houdini. Yeah. Right. I
came out to this yesterday morning.
Yeah. And I was, "Oh my Oh, no. No. No.
She's pulling hair and it's like there's
no babies. Hang on a second. What is
going on here? There's no babies. And we
only ever had many, many, many years
ago, we had a
hermaphrodity, a
hermaphrodite rabbit, and we couldn't
figure out how she was getting
pregnant. It was the weirdest thing.
Anyways, she better not have babies.
Yeah. Because if that's the case,
because rabbits you can't fix. Like
Yeah. The anesthetic. The anesthetic.
It's 50/50. They can go in there. And
she's such a beautifully friendly
rabbit.
So So I'm hoping it's weather related.
Well, and she's just Yeah, she's going
through the motions. Who knows? I have
never seen a rabbit pull hair unless
they're having babies. Well, that's it.
So that happened yesterday, right?
Yesterday she pulled her hair. So, we're
going to keep an eye on her and she
doesn't feel fat. Yeah. No, she's been
locked up and away from any boys other
than her her babies which were removed
which were removed 8 weeks and they
cannot physically breed until they're 3
months which is 12 weeks. Yeah. So,
yeah, there's no there's no way. So, and
that's the absolute earliest. So,
there's no
not a chance. There's not a chance that
she was impregnated by a rabbit. We'll
keep an eye on you.

So, it's the afternoon. Uh, that was our
open farm. So, we had uh probably had a
dozen families that came out and saw the
animals. Uh, had a great time. Beautiful
weather for it. It's gotten a little bit
windy as you can see the air blowing
through my
hair. Uh but yeah, uh other than that,
no, it's uh it's nice. It's beautiful.
And the kids met lots of
people. These ones, you're keeping them
out of the sun, aren't you?
Yeah. Yeah. So, they met lots of uh lots
of people. Where is We're missing
one. Where's the other one? Here's the
other one here lying in the
sun. What are you doing? Oh, it's so
nice outside. Yeah. Oh, do you have a
fun time
today? Playing with
everybody. Tucker's in the shade. Look
at the willow tree. Willow trees are
really starting to come out. So, that's
good. Going to get some shade in
here. And you'll notice
the lighthouse doesn't have a top to it.
So, we uh we took that off today. Took
it inside. There's a fair amount of rot,
but over the week, we will uh get that
fixed
up. And all the other goats, they've uh
kind of been staying in this area. They
haven't really been going out back. Uh
but then they haven't really needed to
because the uh the growth hasn't hasn't
taken off yet. So that time lapse was
made with a uh real link camera. So if
you've been watching us for a while, you
know that I capture footage with a
security camera called Real Link, which
they uh they're uh one of our sponsors
or we're an affiliate with them. Uh if
you are interested in a Real Link
camera, I'll put the link down in the
description. They are a great camera.
That's the camera that's actually in the
birdhouse is a real link doorbell
camera. Uh the camera I took the time
lapse with I can't say anything with
about yet because it is a new release
camera they sent me early and I think uh
its release is the uh 17th of June. So
stay tuned for that. Yeah, that wind has
really kicked up a notch. Anyway, that
is it for this video. I hope you enjoyed
it. Uh, I hope to see you again in the
next video and wishing you all the best
in the coming week and have a wonderful
one. Bye.
