Traditional archery is a sport that is done with traditional materials by many people around the world.
Traditional Turkish archery is a sport that is done with ascetic arrows,
Turkish spears and Turkish arrows.
The most important value of traditional Turkish archery for me is that it is integrated with Sufism and has a prophetic tradition.
In Turkey, traditional Turkish archery is a historical and cultural value.
When Islamic history and Turkish history are evaluated together, we can see it as a cultural value, a historical heritage.
We work with the archery heritage, which provides the most important balance of spirit of our ancestors.
Archery is a unifying element for people of all ages, including 4-year-old girls.
Every day, we regularly do exercises called meşk in the custody of our teachers.
In archery, the young people, who have problems such as the development of the soul and body,
focusing on the target, especially the focus of the young people in the school age,
and the lack of concentration, are eliminated.
There are different types of archery in our country.
There is target archery, puto archery, range archery, and dart archery.
Ottoman spears are called Turkish spears in literature.
It is of Asian origin. We can say that it is an Asiatic type of archery because it is very fragmented.
In the construction of the spearhead, the tree, the axitendons, and the fishing rods are used.
At the stage of archery, a very smooth plate is removed from the spearhead in the form of a strip.
Our trees are boiled for 4-5 hours and the head is given an angle.
In the molds, as we bend the spearhead, other spears are also bent.
After our handle is cracked, we use one of the necks and the other of the fishing rods to stick it on the back.
After this adhesion process, we put the spear tendons on them in 1, 2, 3, 4 rows.
After this adhesion process, the type, shape, and form of the spear is like this.
This is the finished state.
After it is finished and after a year of waiting, we give our spear to our shooters and use it.
There are parts of our spear.
There are two main parts.
The spearhead, the pin that the spear is attached to, the nerve colt to give endurance,
the spear, the handle, the tarp, and the handle handle.
A bone that represents the genius called steel is placed where the two points are joined.
The spear is made of silk.
There are two purposes in making this sport.
One is a sport, as it is known, but there is a more important side.
This is our ancestral heritage, our culture.
Therefore, we try to make the cultural side of it live with rituals,
clothes, equipment, in every way, and we pay attention to this.
One of the things that makes horse riding very special is horse riding.
Because they were able to collect the information of very different geographies together.
Today, pumpkin shooting is held in all horse riding competitions in the world.
A tray of about 60 centimeters on a pole between 8 and 10 meters,
and while passing under the pole of the rider, he has to hit the target by lying on the neck of the horse,
right under the pole.
In the past, we pay attention to the custom of saying,
the horse is the brother of the brave, which is also mentioned in the words of many folk poets.
We see our horses as our brothers.
We see him as a member of the family.
All of our horses are racing horses.
In general, a horse that falls into the hands of a horse rider is very lucky.
Therefore, the sport we will do is much simpler, it will not be exposed to injury,
and it will go through a very healthy rehabilitation process due to basic training.
I participated in competitions in many parts of the world.
These competitions are of course seen as a common heritage of every culture.
Therefore, it is an environment where we can build very comfortable friendships,
we get good friendships.
As we learned this cultural heritage, we are trying to pass it on to future generations in the same way.
We teach the construction of various arrow types in Turkish archery.
We teach the construction of zekir.
This becomes a part of life for them, an inseparable part.
They hang the arrow ring we call zekir on their necks.
They don't take it off their fingers.
In public transport vehicles, in public places, people know each other,
archers know each other with these zekirs.
Zekir is an arrow ring.
It is used to prevent the arrow from hitting the finger.
Every kemankeş has a zekir on his finger.
It is like an identity between them.
For example, you hold it like this.
You pull the arrow.
After you put it on the arrow, you pull it with the ring.
The arrow does not touch your finger.
It does not damage your finger.
It also makes it easy to get rid of the arrow while using it.
The arrow is not just a piece of wood thrown in the air for us.
On top of that, material knowledge,
labor, science, mathematics, art,
all of them have become a whole.
And over the centuries, over time,
it has created a legacy for us.
After giving the outer shape,
we will make it so that it can sit on the arrow.
Then we will wrap fish hooks on it.
We made the arrow ring the last one.
After it sits in the bow,
it prevents it from falling.
We will wrap the bowstring to make it stronger.
We will put a bone at the end.
Now, our arrow is being sharpened with a balmum.
After the balmum process is over,
we will attach a vest to our arrow.
It is called a bird.
After the cutting process of the vests is over,
our arrow is ready to fly.
Especially in the last 15-20 years,
we see that the movement to carry the legacy of culture
on the Turkish archery is more organized,
more sensible,
and more widespread all over the country.
