The truth is, some people, especially close family, may always trigger us in certain ways. The brain is designed to learn deeply from early experiences, especially painful ones.

That’s the bad news.

The good news? You can change your relationship to being triggered.

It may still happen, but it doesn’t have to invade your mind. With practice, you can create space around the reaction, more mindfulness, more breathing room, more clarity.

And in that space, you can start to notice what else is true: your inner stability, and even the moments of care and intention that might otherwise get lost.

It’s not about avoiding triggers altogether. It’s about gaining freedom in how you relate to them.
