The first leg of the journey is complete. Basanti is like brand-new again after the big service she had and ready for new adventures. I am shipping her to Oman to continue with the next 30.000 kilometers of my journey. But arranging things like this.. take time! Today I brought Basanti to the warehouse for crating, but - as expected - it couldn't be done in one day because... well, we had to buy wood. Then nails. Then a saw.. But the foundation is there and hopefully she will be ready to go to the airport in the next video! :)
We got plywood, yay!
Good morning Internet, it is 8.20 in the morning and welcome to my channel. Today is quite a big day
I'm now going to ride my bike to a warehouse where we will build a crate around it
and prepare everything for shipping and then my bike will be shipped from Kuala Lumpur where I am
now to Oman. So all ready for next adventures. Well when I say like I'm gonna do all of this
today, I have actually no idea if it's actually gonna happen today because today is Monday and
it's the last working day before Chinese New Year. So I've heard that pretty much the entire rest of
the week nothing's happening, everybody is on holidays. Communication with the shipping agent
hasn't been very smooth. I've been talking to them for a few weeks now and I still am quite
unsure about the procedure and what's going to happen and I have literally no idea what to
expect. So I'm really expecting not too much, maybe I arrive there and it's closed or well I don't know
what's going to happen but let's see. The warehouse is all the way on the other side of Kuala Lumpur
as well so it's quite far. So as you can see I'm carrying my spare tires with me now
so yeah when I'm really be riding with them obviously my bag is also going to be here
so I don't know how I'm gonna tie them on then but that's for later, problem for later.
Looks a bit funny without the windscreen but actually it's much nicer riding. I don't know
when I have the windscreen I think it's actually just blowing the wind over the screen into my
face because without this one I can actually ride a lot faster with my open visor so
it's a bit weird. Maybe I'll just leave it like that. When I arrive in Oman maybe I'll just
ride like this, I don't know. Let's see
Hi, this is from a Global Air Freight? Global Air Freight? Yes but I'm supposed to
Okay, I go up here? Okay. Hi, how are you?
Yeah, he told you that I was coming? Yeah, yeah. Okay, good. Everybody's left, I don't know, I think
they think that I'm guarding the place or something, I don't know. There's nobody here, I'm alone
but anyway the plan is to start with grading after lunchtime, that's what they said
and they said that most likely it will not be finished today and it was going to take
many days so let's see. I have nothing else to do so I'll stay here the whole day
but what I did already is I took the boxes off, I still had some petrol in my extra petrol cans
so I gave that away so that's empty. Yeah, I think the bike is now as small as possible
since I already took off the windshield and the mirrors, I don't think I can make it a lot
smaller. I could actually opt to take these off, the guards, that's a possibility to make it even a
little bit smaller but I'll have to see because obviously also the boxes, the panniers and the
top case and all of this actually, I also want to fit in the case so I don't know, I think we'll
just figure it out as we go. Yeah, for now I'm kind of all alone in some random place, warehouse
type thing, guarding my stuff so I think the guy who is responsible for the grading, he's gonna
bring me somewhere that I can eat something and then when we come back then hopefully we can
actually start with the grading. I go on this side? Yeah. Oh yeah, this side. Wow!
Ah okay, see what they have. Okay. Oh that looks good. Is this fish? No. Chicken? Chicken.
Egg? Egg. Egg. Chicken egg. Chicken egg. So we are now having lunch, it's amazing food
and when we finish the lunch then we go back to the warehouse
and then hopefully start the grading today, right? Say yes, yeah.
We are going to try and find some plywood to make the box and we're gonna try to find some
second-hand plywood because it doesn't need to be new obviously, it just needs to be a crate and
that's it. Old wood. That means, Kayulama means old? Second wood. Okay, let's see what they have. Oh yeah
No plywood? Just finish. Can't we use something else? Some other thing?
Another shop. Okay.
Plywood.
Now we got a problem. Why? They cannot sell to us. Because the boss is not here? Yeah.
This one, yeah? That should be big enough, the dimensions. If this is 2400 by?
By 1200. Yeah, that should be enough. Just enough. I think the height is gonna be
tricky. I think it's gonna be just enough.
We got plywood, yay!
So yeah, we didn't really do the calculations and the measurements
but so yeah, it's a little bit like it should fit. It should be enough, so let's see.
And now we are waiting for the saw. Yeah, we're waiting for the saw. Today is just a really
difficult day to get things done because tomorrow starts the public holidays.
Yeah.
You don't have that also?
Actually now we're waiting for the key. The key, oh yeah, so we're waiting for the key to open the shop
to get the saw and the other things. I don't know. Everything is going a bit slow.
So it's pouring with rain.
So I'm glad we're working inside. So this is how the baseline is looking and it looks like
we're building an Eiffel Tower here. So this is all done and then one side is done. They worked
very hard but we need some more wood and the shops are closed because Chinese New Year.
So this is it for today. I'll come back on Thursday. You're here Thursday?
Thursday, right? What time? Nine o'clock? Thursday nine o'clock I come back. Then we continue. So
I'm just gonna organize my stuff a little bit and then go back to my Airbnb.
I think today went not too bad. I didn't have any expectations at all and
okay we didn't finish the crate but at least we got started. So I am actually happy with the
progress and I'll just go back there on Thursday and then we try to finish it and then I don't
know. See what happens then. I hope you liked this video. If you did, please give me a big thumbs up
and subscribe down below and stay tuned for what's gonna happen in the next video
