Mark here, my wife Tara, and welcome to the Tanager Woods. Winter, welcome to winter. Welcome
to winter. Spring is now over and we're back into winter. Four seasons in 48 hours. So we had midweek,
we had warm temperatures, it was like 12 or 13 degrees celsius, and just the other day we got
dumped with, I don't know, almost a foot of snow. So yeah, here we are. Marlene is, well she just
arrived. Marlene is here. And we're going to go out and give the animals treats and feed the animals.
There we go, there's the snow. Look, there's ground. It was all gone. Yeah, so Tara decided she wasn't
going to snowblow the driveway, because probably pick up the gravel. So she just ended up driving
back and forth down the driveway and packing things down. So it'll be gone, I'm sure, in a few
days, maybe a week. It's supposed to be, it's supposed to be somewhat sunny I think today, but
there's some, there's a patch of blue sky over there. Look at that. Yeah, watch the ice under the snow.
Yeah, the snow at least gives some traction. So the ponies got their hoofs done the other day.
I don't know where Astrid, Astrid must be over yonder. There she is. Is she there? There she is, yeah.
Oh my, you're a little wet. Yeah, a little wet and that time of year.
You okay? Careful when you go in there. Why? Because the trap is set. Oh.
Uh, nope. It is nothing. False alarm. So Tara set that trap for, uh, we had a visitor.
Yeah, so I should probably put one of the cameras in there to catch any action that happens.
Lobbing for veggies. For Astrid, she's getting to have to dig,
but she doesn't want to. Well, you get your food and your water in the same time.
There we go, Meadow. There we go. Okay. We got the treats. Yeah, so our farrier came out
midweek and she, uh, she did the ponies feet, uh, Astrid.
Tara tried to catch Astrid in the morning to put her in this building and just didn't work. So
they started off with Levi and Tiana came out and she ended up getting Astrid into the, uh,
into the old, the old chicken coop there and, uh, wrangled her. So it's all about a little bit
of patience and some trust and it takes a little bit of time. So we got them all done.
Oh, look at the dirty ducks. Yeah. Hopefully this will be the last spread of, uh,
the last spread of, uh, of straw this year.
Oh, Charlie.
Yeah. You're dirty.
He's like, where, where's the water?
Because mummy usually has the water.
Yeah. There you go.
Yeah. The pond is almost melted too. We had water on the pond on top of the ice
and things were, uh, things were looking up. Then of course it snowed for a day and a half.
Now we've had some goose eggs. Oh yeah, there'll be more. Yeah. Where did you get them from?
Well, those two. Was it these two?
Oh yeah. There's five in here.
Oh, he got out of the bag.
There we go. Oh, Charlie was thirsty.
Did you get the eggs? Uh, no, I didn't, uh, grab them. You want,
I didn't know you wanted to harvest them. Charlie want the bag again?
Just put that bag over here. Charlie, I got no hands to protect myself.
Come here, buddy. It hurts.
I know. He's, uh, he uses his beak as a pinch. Yes. Hi. Yes. Oh, you're a silly duck. You are.
I love you, but spring's coming.
Go get a girl. I'm not your...
Come here, Charlie. Okay, out. No, turn around. Go play with the others.
Okay, so you'll notice something different. The girls are in. The mamas are in.
And we put the kids out because they are, well, they're close to kidding season,
but we're not sure who may or may not be pregnant. So there's a different routine.
Well, that one's pregnant. Look at the bellies. Yeah. Not sure about you, Coco. Yeah.
So different routine. Let's figure this out.
Of course the pigs are going to be fed in this other area, I guess, or you put...
Okay. I see what you're doing. All right. I get it. Get the mamas out in the back.
Close it up and free up the aisle. All right. Yeah. So now they're all in here
and we've got an eye on them with, we've got a couple cameras here
that are watching them. Our little baby monitors.
And I see what you did here too. So she moved in.
She moved in the rabbits and put a divider in here. So now this is solely the rabbit pen.
But I guess she was just trying to make more room. So of course, when this gate's open and
closing up that area, all the goats, all the mama goats are able to get into all these areas.
Okay. Wow. Lots of noise today.
You got the treats.
Okay. So we've got Tinker in. Tara's running around. Best stay out of her way.
Turbo's scratching to get in. And Charlie's doing something. It's a madness today.
Okay. So here we are out and the kid goats are out here.
So there has been a little bit of dealing with the newbies. So the sheep and the goats, of course,
they haven't been together in some time. So we're going to have to be a little bit of
pushing around, which seems to have pretty much been over now. There was when we put the kids in.
There was some confusion as to why all these mini-me's were out here instead of the regular
mamas. Now the sheep we're going to be shearing end of, well, beginning of June, somewhere around
there. End of May, beginning of June, when the weather... We're going to have to schedule that.
Did you... Yeah, it's already on there. It's already on there. It's not scheduled. She just
lets me know when it gets there. I'll get you apples after. Okay. She lets you know when she's
in the area. Yeah. It's the end of May, beginning of June. Yeah. Okay. All right. So there we go.
Charlie. Okay.
And Shimmer's learning the ropes. This will be actually her first treats. First Marlene treats.
Yeah.
Hi, duck. Hi. Yeah. Mommy's going to get you some hay. And look over here. Marlene's got
stuff. There we go. Distraction.
Charlie's like, nope, that's mine.
Don't hurt them. It's just concentrated. Okay. That's it. That's it for you.
Okay. Nope. Well, no. Tucker, out. Charlie, your food is over here. Oh, boy. What a chaos, right?
Yeah. What is this? What are these little... There's lots... No, there's lots down on the ground.
Yeah. You just have to get them. So Shimmer's going to also be shared as well.
So we'll get... And Shimmer's a goat, not a sheep. But she's an angora.
Okay. Charlie, here. Charlie. Charlie, here. Look. Your food. What is going on? Oh,
you're trying to squeeze around. Turbo. There we go. Oh, go turbo. I know. Yeah.
She doesn't know his size. Either that or he does. He just bolts through.
Hi. What are you waiting for? Are you waiting for hay?
Or are you waiting to maybe get some of Charlie's food?
Here, Tucker, look. Tucker, look. It's fresh hay.
A little bit of chaos this morning, but I think everything is good now.
I better go in and shut the door. Yeah, you better move, boy.
Holly and Petunia will be... She's... Well, Petunia is always big. But yeah, I get it.
Holly, those aren't yours. Yours are in you. So left, that's the food side. And this here,
this big bump is the... Left is lunch, right is babies. She hasn't dropped.
They'll drop and get really hollow. Just let me finish the chicken.
All right. Blueberries for the chickens.
Okay.
Of course, all the mamas are right here. They're like, what are we doing? What are we doing?
Yeah.
We need a bigger barn, I guess.
All right. Egg update. Doesn't look like Penny has started sitting on the eggs, but we've got
two, four, six, eight eggs there. And we'll see what happens with that.
All right, mamas. Marlene's got the treats. Yeah. They don't know. They will soon.
Oh, there we go. Petunias.
Get in the hallway and do the whole thing.
Oh, sorry.
That kind of worked. Some of it fell through.
Just flip up. Flip up the screen. There we go.
I love when babies poop in their food bowl.
The little ones, no, I don't know. I don't see any of them. Oh, we got some curiosity,
but not yet. Mama's going to end up eating them all.
Okay. That is a water bowl. Yeah. Don't poop in your water bowl.
It's not a nest. Half the size of mom.
Well, and they're fluffy. Yeah. That one's fluffy.
Well, good morning to you too. You got your own little water, your own little food.
Everybody's got their little place, don't they?
So he's got two dishes in here. I'm trying to keep some of the roosters apart.
If there's issues with them. This one here is in training for petting farms.
So this one's been handled a little bit more. And he's got his own little apartment here.
So I was trying to remember the name of that rooster. It is Siracha.
The little one. So I think Tiana named that one.
But we're in the house. And what did Tara make this week?
I need a nap. You need a nap.
So last week, last week was this Fox, but the ears were a little off for me.
So I redid it with ears pointed up a little bit more. And then I was like,
I like that better without the wool. So I'm kind of leaving that one like that.
Marlene likes this one. She says it looks cute.
I say this one looks more artistic, matches my decor better.
So yeah, it matches the other ones. This one has felting on it. So she went and she felt it.
Of course, last week we showed you that one. It was a special request.
But I had to change the ears because they were, I don't know, too out, too straight.
So I shrunk them. They actually touch the top together. They touch instead of a space.
So which one do you like the best? Put that in the comments.
Number one. Do you like this one here?
Cutie pie. Or do you like?
Or do you like Tara's artistic Fox? Number two.
Number two. Yeah. And same tail.
Oh yeah. It's the same pattern except the ears are just adjusted up and then this is felt.
And these ears are stuffed. So if you look, these ears are stuffed and they look fat.
These ones are not. Oh, they're not stuffed at all?
They're not stuffed at all. Okay.
Yeah. Give them a back view. Yeah. You didn't want them.
You didn't want them poofy. Yeah. Yeah. So.
Yeah. So this will be one of the last projects almost because the spring is coming. Maybe.
Was coming. It's been sunny all day. So that's nice.
Since we came in. Yeah.
No babies yet. No, no babies yet.
We're watching. Yeah.
Watching on the camera. So we'll keep you updated on that.
Yeah. Coco keeps hiding from the camera. So I'm like, I have to search for.
Find a Coco. Yeah.
Cause if, why don't I go out? Like, why didn't you say?
Cause if I go out there and you interfere with them, they get all excited.
They were, if they were in just starting stages of labor, then by me going out there,
they'd get all excited and maybe pulled off on a bit or.
Yeah. So I watch the cameras and when one drops, then I run.
And then the, uh, the cats are all.
Yeah. All their beds got washed today.
Claire's been doing spring cleaning. Hey, that's Coda.
All the cat hair. So mommy not sneezing. Yeah.
Coda was out on the catio the other day when it was right after it snowed and
he just loved the snow. Oh, he was bringing in ice chunks across the floor.
We should have put a camera out there and watched him frolic in the snow.
And Toby, Toby's looking good. Uh, sporting his, his, uh, haircut.
Right. You're shearing. Yeah. And the other cats are all just crash.
There's a Nara. Oh, there's some downstairs.
I think some of the newbies, there's Nick's here.
They love these beds. Yeah.
These ones are empty, but we have, uh, who's that?
Oh, that's Lucifer. Hi, Lucifer.
What are you doing? Oh yeah.
There's no sun over here. You got to go lie in the sun on the other one.
Yeah. So that is the end of the video.
We will be watching the mama goats out there.
Tara's got the, uh, the cameras up on her computer,
keeping a close eye on them, even Coco when she can find her in the cameras.
Uh, we hope to see you next week and we hope you have a wonderful week until then.
Take care. Bye.
