this entire school system overlooked all
of his issues all of his complaints and
now he took his own life So what can we
take away from all this and what's the
message behind this guys This is a
tragic story of Abash Tulong and uh you
guys might have heard about it on social
media through the different outlets but
I'll just share parts of this video from
Ed Choy This is the most blatant
disregard for a child's safety and life
from a school system including where
multiple adults failed this child not
only in and during his life but after it
as well Not only do have the court
documents of the lawsuit that the
parents filed against the whole school
district including the adults that were
involved in addition to a lot of other
details like who is exactly responsible
and the details are going to make you
livid In fact when Cali Walker told
Abiesh that she was going to give him a
suspension he went into distress mode
and literally told her that he was going
to run away and hurt himself And she did
nothing and did not tell anyone
including the school or Abesh's parents
and instead decided to just move forward
with the suspension And then the next
day on March 21st 2024 on the first day
of his out of school
suspension Abesh took his own life The
superintendent of Akran Public Schools
Michael Robinson did nothing The
principal of National Inventors Hall of
Fame STEM Middle School Amanda Morgan
did nothing Assistant Principal Jessica
Fel did nothing Assistant Principal
Denise Bahari whose office has this sign
hanging up on it that literally
denounces bullying Not only did she not
do anything to help Abiesh but just
barely 4 days after he took his own life
on the 25th she's just too busy living
her life and changing her profile
pictures And the school counselor who
Abiesh went to for help multiple times
Shenica Rogers aka known as Sheree who
at the time not only had eight years of
experience under her belt as a school
counselor but she had previous three
plus years of experience with crisis
management and advocating for client
needs like when kids are having a crisis
with bullying and need help from an
adult So if you want to see the entire
video you can watch it at the link down
below at Ed Choy think he does an
amazing job of covering a lot of these
stories Um but this story it's it gets
talked about but not really talked about
enough because it's not on CNN it's not
on MSN it's not even on NY Post it's not
on any large news sites If you look at
the news outlets that are covering this
it's just like local Akran Ohio Akran
Beacon Journal
Cleveland.com some Asian-American sites
So this story is not really getting out
there but basically there's a huge
lawsuit against this school who
overlooked and had several chances to
help this kid this Asian immigrant kid
um with his bullying issues before he
took his own life but they really did
nothing I mean I I'll just go through
some of the articles here Um the boy
went to the school nurse 11 times from
September of 2023 until his death in
2024 including four times about being a
victim of assault by other students Uh
the lawsuit asserts that no
investigation was initiated to hold the
students accountable who punched Abesh
in the nose a green light to the bullies
that the APS would tolerate this kind of
conduct when directed towards Asians
Another quote from the lawyer from the
attorney of the family We feel that
obviously this was a tragedy but it's
something that could have been avoided
if the school administrators would have
just followed their own rules their own
anti-bullying rules It was very
preventable It was a tragic event So
basically I'll I'll leave also a link to
his GoFundMe for uh legal uh fees down
below because I think that this could be
a pretty big case if they win because
you know lawsuits they are effective
unfortunately you know money speaks So
when you hit people for money and people
are punished by having to pay you a lot
of money you know uh it's not going to
bring that life back But I it does make
an impact in society right Because now
everybody's got to be more on alert and
pretty much not ignore kids like this Um
so there are some harsh truths about
this situation I thought about it One of
the harsh truths that I came to
conclusion about is that Abesh being a a
Asian immigrant kid especially one from
a smaller community in Akran Ohio uh did
make it easier for people to overlook
him because I I guess I feel like that
maybe if he was like uh of one of the
larger groups like a Chinese kid or
Filipino kid or Vietnamese kid or Korean
kid perhaps maybe there would have been
more of a community for him But
obviously Bhanese you know they don't
make up a large amount Um uh the
economic statistics of their group you
know uh they they have their hardships
So you know small groups like Mong Cham
Bhutan Nepalese Burmese these are small
Asian groups These are minorities of
minorities They're not even of the the
main larger Asian groups So I do think
that that affected it a little bit But
regardless these administrators and
these teachers basically were
essentially overlooking another Asian
They were I think they were just being
basically racist in the sense that they
were not looking at the problems and
they were not taking care of the
business that administrators and
teachers are supposed to do That's the
whole point of this school And not to
mention this is not just any school This
is a STEM school This is a school This
is not like the the worst school in the
district like this is a school that
specializes in these STEM subjects you
know so the teachers are should be more
academically focused and more focused on
the students So that's why it's kind of
crazy you know Number two he did fight
back Abh did fight back He did speak up
And so he did speak up He did uh fight
back to the bullies And still nobody saw
it And still nobody handled it correctly
And and this could have been stopped at
any point you know along the way cuz
there were several adults involved in
this You know I don't know what they
were thinking Maybe they're thinking "Oh
he's Asian He's going to be fine We
don't have to This is not a big deal."
You know he went to the nurse's office
11 times If a kid goes to the nurse's
office even 11 times for even a stomach
ache like that should raise a red flag
People should be like "Yo what's wrong
with this kid's stomach Like we should
really investigate Like this is a
student." You know what I mean And this
is and he's not a bad student He he was
on honor roll the year before He's
clearly a smart kid and he clearly
excels uh excelled in academics So
that's why I'm like dude this was not a
kid who was falling off the tracks It
wasn't like one of the kid like this was
like a good student A point number three
another harsh truth is like I don't
think you're going to fully ever
eliminate bullying in school despite how
much anti-bullying
uh supposed to be like uh initiatives
there are or like you have the posters
that's anti-bullying Bullying is is a
product of what happens and it happens
everywhere in almost every community in
every world in every country right So
bullying is unfortunately something that
happens in adolescence especially but
like for a a country or or a school
system that prides itself on being so
anti-bullying It's insane that this was
overlooked where five six grown adults
who can understand what's going on They
can't say "Oh well he was speaking
Bhutanese to me so I didn't understand."
There's no excuse Like he he could speak
English I don't know maybe it was
accented or something But he's clearly
voicing and making complaints and these
people are overlooking him And by the
way this school is not that gigantic
It's not like 4,000 kids There's only
400 students 400 is not a very big
school It's not huge You can't say "Oh
well you got lost in the fray and this
is g this school is so gigantic you know
we don't have the staffing." They they
can't make that excuse This is a
specialized like junior high or it's a
specialized um sorry primary school
elementary with only 400 kids And the
last thing is is that kids are really
cruel and and like I know that parents
are busy and adults are busy teachers
are busy administrators are busy but
literally I mean this is one of the main
issues in school and it doesn't just
happen to Asian kids Obviously there's
this case as one of the comments points
out Joselyn Rojo Kuransza 11 years old
also in Texas who she took her own life
after she was getting teased at school
about her family being deported and her
being undocumented and stuff like that
So bullying can come in any form to any
community you know what I mean Obviously
especially minority kids they suffer
from it more So um it's a really sad
case and that's why I'm bringing
attention to it That's why Ed's bringing
that's why everybody all the other Asian
accounts are bringing attention to it
because I'm really surprised that it's
not being talked about I mean this could
be a big big case This is a big lawsuit
and a kid took his life I mean at 11
years old that's like that's he's so
young like at 11 for kids this young to
take their lives It's it's even more
shocking in a way because you'd think if
they're like an adult who went through a
divorce who lost their kids lost a
family lost their job depressed for
clinically depressed on for many many
years you know I'm just I'm not saying
that is okay but like I guess you can
just see that you know people who have
been through more hardship in their life
maybe you know they're in that situation
But I was like at 11 like these kids
these kids are young you know Um it
shouldn't it shouldn't be happening I'll
go in the comment section Um someone
said the teacher needs to be also held
accountable for not reporting the
bullying and taking this boy's cry for
help for coming to them This is
heartbreaking Um yeah for sure I do
think so And I that's why the lawsuit is
against the whole school district
because a lot of people didn't do
anything Multiple people This wasn't one
teacher It was multiple Um someone did
comment for real What's the point of
putting the bully together with the
victim His parents should have taken
action Um I think his parents did do
something I think his parents heard
about it and then approached the school
and then the school still didn't do
anything You know what I mean And no I'm
not going to lie Like I think the
parents didn't really know what was
going on I'm sure the parents are are
you know workingass immigrants You know
they're just trying to get by You know
it's true
that I don't know if Abash didn't want
to tell his parents or if he did and his
parents didn't speak up early enough but
his parents did speak up and clearly the
school knew So at some point obviously
you do have to put a lot of um you have
to put some responsibility on the
parents but at the end of the day the
school system clear it's on record that
they failed
him He literally said he was going to
hurt himself to a teacher before he hurt
himself So it's just people are
overlooking because I think he's Asian
Does this happen to any other race you
know especially he's he's a a immigrant
kid So does this happen to any other
race though Like try to replace it and
see if it would work out you know Um
someone says "This makes me so angry So
many people failed him It can be so hard
for kids to tell adults when they're
being bullied." And he did to tell them
"Be just so brave to speak up Uh I hope
the school is held accountable Someone
said "My son had a very similar
experience this year and I had to
personally get involved I was actually
banned from the school for confronting a
student because my son refused to get
violent but I rather have it be me
versus my son He is suffering from such
trauma as well My heart goes out to
Abh." So this mom actually got banned
from the school for confronting the
actual student Now I don't know what the
whole process is with this cool Asian
mom You know hopefully she also talked
to the school but maybe she felt like
the school wasn't doing enough again and
so she stepped up and so she'd rather
deal with the heat as the parent than
her son who who who was unable to deal
with it you know So this just goes to
show you that the posters can be there
There can be all these anti-bullying
commercials The school can have these
assemblies about don't bully don't bully
this Obviously there's been
anti-bullying talk since I was a kid
Obviously people have been talking about
this for decades you know but until
people actually step up and these adults
actually step up uh
uh yeah obviously the worst can still
happen So um the link is for the
GoFundMe down below The link to Ed's uh
Ed Choy's video covering all the details
of the lawsuit is also down below But uh
yeah I mean you know people with kids
uh I think you also Yeah I mean it's
something to think about So anyways let
me know what you guys think down below
This is a tragic case Um but again yeah
bullying happens So how do you deal with
it and how does it not get overlooked
And so that's why this lawsuit I think
is big because I I think it's going to
affect schools maybe across the nation
Um so anyways uh yeah let me know what
you guys thinking down below Uh and
until next time I'm out
