SpaceX Fixed Starship V2 Problem, Get Ready for Flight 9 Next Month...
It’s so close, everyone!
Flight 9 could be just a few weeks away, according to Elon Musk’s estimates, making this one of the busiest periods of preparation.
In particular, fixing Starship’s issues after the last two failures will be a top priority, ensuring SpaceX has the best chance of success in the upcoming flight.
So what does SpaceX need to do to prepare in the coming weeks?
Let’s find out in today’s episode of Great SpaceX.
Firstly, we have to talk about the Flight 9 schedule again.
Even though Flight 8 experienced the same issues as Flight 7 and is now undergoing a mishap investigation, Elon Musk wasted no time in confidently announcing that the next flight could happen within four to six weeks—meaning early to mid-April.

This estimate was further reinforced by the FCC license, which set an operational window from April 7 to October 7. The early start date has fueled expectations of a launch in early April.
However, in my opinion, a mid- to late-April launch seems more feasible.
Now that we’re in late March and approaching April, the next Starship flight is just weeks away. That means SpaceX is in its final preparations—especially in addressing the issues that caused problems in previous flights.
While SpaceX has yet to officially announce all the causes behind the failures, we can assume that most of the challenges remain the same as those faced during Flight 7. The upgrades implemented before Flight 8 can still be applied and further refined.

For Ship 35, two primary factors likely contributed to the issues: harmonic resonance and the impact of the stage separation mechanism.
In the previous flight, the harmonic response in the cavity above the engine firewall may have been too strong, leading to a leak. As the leak worsened, pressure likely built up, and the venting system may not have had the capacity to release it efficiently. The leaked propellant could then have come into contact with the engine’s exhaust gases, triggering fires—similar to what was observed in the Vacuum engines of Ship 34. Additionally, increased pressure and other factors could have compromised the cooling system, causing the engines to overheat and fail.
