Tonight we're gonna get something really good.
Are you guys hungry?
Yep.
You dressing nice?
Yep.
What does that mean?
First.
It must mean we're going to a fancy place, right?
Yeah.
Getting fancy food.
You wanna wear those, Jadie?
You like those better?
Okay.
Probably like two weeks ago,
my wife and I went to a date to this spot.
It was really good.
And when we ate there,
we knew the kids were gonna love it,
so we're gonna take them there tonight.
You know what we're getting, Liam?
French fries.
And what else?
Steak.
You know what this dish is called?
No.
Steak frites.
It's a classic French dish.
Yeah.
Sounds American when you say it like that,
but steak frites if it sounds French.
Dad.
Yeah.
Do you know where French fries were invented?
France.
Belgium.
No.
Belgium is correct, I think.
Belgium is correct.
But you know what?
I honestly, like, they say Belgium.
They were invented in Belgium or France.
I don't think you can pinpoint where they're invented.
The first person to put a potato in oil
probably happened immediately
the first time somebody picked up a potato, you know?
Probably the first people put a potato in water,
or maybe they threw it in fire first,
then they threw it in some water,
then they threw it in some oil,
and probably everybody did that at the same time.
You ready, you hungry?
Yeah.
This place has good French fries,
and they have macaroni and cheese,
and the steak is tender.
Hard?
Tender is soft.
Oh.
And they cut it thin, and they have bread,
and they have, like, nine sauces.
Do they have mango sauce?
I don't think so, it's French.
So they have, like, black pepper sauce,
cheese sauce, super spicy sauce.
I'm just joking.
If you're a follower, and you, like, comment on my videos,
thank you.
Thank you so much.
We're kind of living the dream life right now.
Like, I'm taking my kids out to eat,
I'm making YouTube videos, and things are working out,
so I really appreciate it.
Yeah, thank you.
It's like, dream life is happening right now.
It's pretty damn incredible.
And if you're not a follower, now's the time.
Hit the follow button.
Let's get these numbers,
help me get the views and subscribers up
so I can take the kids to Japan.
That's my goal next.
That'll be super cool.
All right, get in the car.
It's far.
This is in District 1.
This is, like, right in the center of District 1
on Nam Khoi Street.
So it's probably gonna be about a 40-minute drive for us.
35.
But for anyone who's traveling to Vietnam,
this is a good location for you.
So it's, like, right in the center of District 1.
We'll be there in a second.
We'll see you there.
And we're here, ba-da-bing.
That's a little hard to find.
We're on the second floor here.
But this place is called La Entrecôte, La Entrecôte.
One thing to note is that this place,
there's no elevator,
and you have to walk up two floors.
So it is not wheelchair accessible in any way.
If you have mobility issues,
this is gonna be a challenge for you.
If you drive a motorbike and you drive here, though,
it's crazy.
You just, you drop your motorbike off
and you have to prepay, like, 20,000 to park here.
It's just a little weird to drop your motorbike off
on the side of the road, not get a ticket,
and then prepay.
But we did it before.
We got our motorbike back.
Here we go.
It's a very cute little place up here.
Oh, perfect.
Thank you.
Come on, yeah.
I'm just gonna look at the drinks.
You can, you're gonna look at the drinks?
Oh, the homemade lemonade sounds good.
Homemade lemonade sounds good, does it?
Yeah.
So this place is really cute.
It's really nice inside.
The only thing I don't like is they don't have any cocktails.
Why don't they have cocktails?
That's okay.
The fries here were really good.
The duck rillette or the pork rillette wasn't worth it.
I wouldn't get that.
We had the prosciutto and arugula salad last time.
That wasn't worth it either.
I wouldn't get that either.
And we had the spicy garlic prawns last time.
That was pretty good.
But really, the best thing was the steak.
You like this spot, Liam?
Is it nice?
Feel good?
Feel fancy?
Why don't you look at, can you look at the steak?
Do you see where the steaks are?
This is the steak, and then here's the sauces
that go with the steak.
And then here's the sides.
I think for the kids, the best bet is gonna get steak
and then just kind of load up on sides.
So we'll probably do that.
So we'll probably get two steaks.
Homemade french fries and mac and cheese.
Okay.
Ooh, mashed honey sweet potato.
Okay, good.
Mommy wants that too.
Red wine?
Mm-hmm.
That's weird.
Red wine is weird?
Liam.
Yeah?
Would you rather try scallop or octopus?
Octopus.
Octopus, okay.
Are you okay if I get medium rare steak?
Yeah, because we can grill it.
Because they're gonna cook it longer.
Anyway, we order, yeah.
Can I get the octopus?
Three hours today.
You're out of today?
Oh, no.
Okay.
But we have grilled baby squid.
It's good.
A grilled baby squid is good?
Okay, let's get the grilled baby squid.
What's the entrecote sauce?
We got anchovy sauce.
Like anchovy sauce?
Okay, can we get one red chimichurri,
one mushroom, and one red wine?
And then for sides, can we have the french fry,
the garlic spinach, sweet potato, and the mac and cheese?
That's it?
That's all right, we don't need the menus.
Are you getting that for mommy?
Wow, look at that.
Look at this young man.
Young man's getting bonus points.
Whoa, good job, tree.
We really had a good time here last time.
It's just the last time the food came like too fast
for a date night.
But the food was really good.
The steak was really good.
I think the price is great.
What do you mean came too fast?
Like when you're on a date with your special lady,
you kinda want it to be a little bit more romantic.
If the food comes too fast, the dinner's over too fast.
So when mommy and daddy are on a date,
we wanna take our time.
We wanna be out for an hour and a half or two hours.
When we came here, we were thinking,
oh my God, we gotta come back here and bring the kids.
The kids are gonna like this spot.
This is right in District One,
right off of Dong Khoi Street.
So if you're traveling here,
you're probably gonna be pretty darn close
to this restaurant if you're really craving something,
and the non-Vietnamese is a good spot to come
as long as you can climb the stairs.
Yeah, they have a wine.
Yeah, they kinda do.
Because this is a French restaurant,
so French love wine.
A lot of great wine comes from France.
Ooh, it's good, right?
Yeah.
This is the sugar tree.
So you can put sugar in there now.
It's sweetened up.
Yeah, it is.
Is that better now?
You like it?
All right, we're sharing the lemonade.
For the record, that's limeade.
I want a little bit of sweetness.
Come on.
Yeah.
That's the fried onion.
This is the herb sauce.
It's good.
It's squid, fried onions on top, herb sauce.
This is good.
I like it with the fried onions on top.
That's really cool.
I think it's actually great.
Wow.
Did you like that?
That's like super good.
Get this.
Cool, thank you.
This is scallops fried with XO sauce
and tomatoes and dill.
These are like little baby scallop.
Oh, the scallop's a little spicy.
The scallop?
Okay, fine.
The squid's amazing.
Get the squid, it's amazing.
So you can see too, the steak is really sliced thin,
which is great for us, great for the kids.
And it has a candle heat, so we get it medium rare
and you can cook it a little bit longer.
Here's the problem.
They bring a lot of food too quick.
It was too fast for this stuff.
So here's the macaroni and cheese.
Ooh, that looks good.
Okay, this is happening quick.
Yeah, you can have some french fries.
They're hot, Jadie.
That's the sweet potato.
I'll try beef.
You like it?
The beef is tender.
Here, eat more beef.
The squid's great.
The squid is actually great.
But I do like the mushroom sauce.
You like the mushroom sauce, but not the red wine.
Jadie, you want more mushroom?
Mushroom!
Is that all of it?
It just comes so darn fast.
Yeah, we can get more bread.
Emily, can we have more bread, please?
Yeah, yeah, I'm digging it.
I knew you would.
Fries are great.
Macaroni and cheese is pretty damn good too.
The beef is cooked really well.
I like how thin it's cut.
I've seen people complain about that, but I like it.
You don't even need the knife.
The beef is so tender.
Actually, the red wine I'm getting, I like it now.
It's spicy.
It just needs salt.
You can eat more beef, eat more beef, go ahead.
The top side of the beef wasn't ready.
It's all ready, you can eat it rare, you can eat it raw.
This is ready, dude.
You don't like the red sauce, the red wine?
No.
The red wine's good, I like the red wine too.
Where's the red wine?
This is the red wine.
This is Liam trying red wine.
You like it?
I like it.
This is classic.
What do you think?
It's okay.
Okay?
We got more bread, we got more bread.
The bread's good.
There's just so many sauces to scoop and dip with.
I love it, I love it.
I'm mixing it with my cheese and mushrooms.
What do you got, sweet potato and mushroom mixed together?
I like that you're mixing, Tree, that's good.
These guys are on like a little alchemy experiment today
with all these sauces.
Squid sauce.
My first business is gonna be a restaurant.
That's a bad idea.
And I'm gonna make a sauce.
Restaurants are a bad business, look, Tree.
It's very hard to make money in a restaurant.
Daddy knows better than most people.
All right, more sweet potato.
Sweet potato's really, everything's good.
It's not called a scallop.
Yeah, it's a scallop, okay.
But I eat it, it's okay.
Can we have one more french fry?
Yeah.
Is this your new favorite spot?
Yeah, I made a super sauce.
I combined three different sauces.
So we had to get extra french fries
so he could dip in his super sauce.
That one's ours.
Come on.
I love the fries, too.
Try dripping your super sauce.
Okay.
What's your favorite thing tonight?
French fries.
What's your favorite sauce?
Super sauce.
Super sauce?
Jadie, what's your favorite thing tonight?
French fries?
How about after french fry?
Oh, okay, just french fry?
What's your favorite tonight?
What are you thinking?
I already know what I like.
What do you like?
Everything, except for the scallop.
How about your favorite thing?
You know what I'm gonna say, right?
French fry?
No.
The squid?
The smashed sweet potatoes?
That was really good, too.
I agree.
How about you, lover?
What's your favorite one?
The squid.
The squid's great.
Yeah.
How about your favorite sauce?
Mushroom?
I didn't eat much.
I know, you didn't eat much.
Crushed.
I mean, the food comes so fast.
The food comes fast, it's good,
and the kids are just destroying it.
All right, we're gonna get dessert here, too.
We are?
Yeah, we were debating about walking around
and getting dessert, but the food's great here.
Panna cotta, pennywort, yuzu ice cream.
Whoa!
What?
They have a panna cotta, which is like a custard,
and they have a traditional one with raspberry on top,
which I know you're gonna like,
but this is more interesting to me.
This has rameh, the pennywort, and yuzu ice cream.
That seems cool.
And then we can either get the one that's like a Snickers,
so chocolate and peanut butter caramel,
or chocolate mousse.
I think we should get Snickers.
Yeah, that's good.
We're cold out of day.
I know the kids are just gonna love creme brulee.
I don't want that.
I want the panna cotta,
but I'll get the creme brulee for them.
I'll make panna cotta with the kids at home.
It's easy enough to make.
And all the desserts are about four bucks each,
so not bad.
We did make reservations here, by the way,
so if you're coming at prime time,
you might wanna do that.
It's not huge, so I might fill up.
Whoa!
Come on.
This one's a Snickers, this one's chocolate,
and this one creme brulee.
It doesn't matter.
You just scoop.
Listen, you guys are gonna waste your time breaking.
I'm gonna eat the whole thing, all right?
Go ahead.
That good?
Creme brulee's good.
Creme brulee's always good.
I need a little more vanilla, but it's good.
Of course it's good.
Is this ice cream?
Yeah, some kind of ice cream.
That's cream and egg yolk and sugar.
Daddy made this before.
You remember?
Yeah, I made this before.
I think I probably made a different flavor, though.
Both of these are good, not great.
The creme brulee needs a little more vanilla.
Maybe a little sweeter.
This Snickers thing, they gotta temper it
for another two minutes before they serve it.
It's too icy.
But the cake is really good in there.
Actually, that's good.
What am I saying?
That's good.
What do you like better, Jay?
Do you like the creme brulee?
You like the Snickers?
This one?
Yeah, I agree.
This one's better.
What do you like better, Trey, Liam?
Both.
Both?
How about the peanut thing on the creme brulee?
There we go.
The creme brulee is better with the candied peanuts.
Trey, what did you like better,
the creme brulee or the Snickers?
Both.
I combined them.
I think it's better combined.
Yeah, I agree.
Emily, ding-ding.
This is so good.
Yeah, it was really good.
So total bill here was like 1.9 million,
which is about $76,
which is really expensive for us.
But, you know, we kinda ordered heavy
and just kept going here.
We ordered heavy.
Yeah, but I think everything's totally worth it,
except for the dessert.
Dessert's mediocre.
But the savory was great.
Let's go.
That is a great restaurant.
It was super good.
Super good?
Yeah, this is a great restaurant.
Highly recommend it.
