NASA revealed First B.O. New Glenn Launch to the Moon...Sooner than SpaceX?
Just when no one saw it coming, Blue Origin has suddenly stolen the spotlight as NASA reveals the company's lunar lander launch plan — Absolutely insane! And trust me—the timeline will leave you stunned!
But that’s not all. Blue Origin is also gearing up for major launches with New Glenn, setting the stage for an ambitious future.
So, just how bold are their upcoming plans? And will it really be smooth sailing for them?
Let’s dive into it all on today’s episode of Great SpaceX!
After the debut flight in January, you might be wondering—what’s going on with Blue Origin?

Everything has been oddly quiet (well, if we don’t count their suborbital vehicle, New Shepard). That’s because the company is still investigating the New Glenn booster mishap while also working on hardware for future flights. Naturally, with so little news, attention on Blue Origin has faded.
But guess what? NASA just dropped a bombshell update about Blue Origin—specifically about their Blue Moon Mark 1 lunar lander.
This revelation came from a presentation slide at the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference 2025 (LPSC). The slide listed upcoming lunar lander missions scheduled for 2025 and 2026, and surprisingly, Blue Origin was at the very top. That means they’re set to launch sooner than any other organization on the list. Their target date? August 2025.
Yeah, you heard that right. Blue Origin’s Blue Moon Mark 1 is scheduled to launch in just five months!

This is a shocker, considering how little we’ve heard about this lander since it was first introduced. If all goes according to plan, it will be the third U.S. lunar lander to launch this year, ahead of Astrobotic’s Griffin mission, which is set to fly on Falcon Heavy later in the year. Other missions on the list include an Intuitive Machines lander in early 2026 (this company just launched IM-2), two Firefly Aerospace missions in mid-2026 (Blue Ghost landers), and a Draper lander in late 2026.
Launching ahead of companies with prior lunar experience—such as Astrobotic, Intuitive Machines, and Firefly—signals that Blue Origin is going all in on lunar ambitions.
And, of course, when Blue Origin is in the spotlight, comparisons with SpaceX are inevitable.
