Claudia Kishi, Mallory Pike, Din Djarin, all three have really cool names and are world-class
babysitters, but only one knows how to simultaneously ward off a multitude of baddies
all while watching a child. Here to talk about his time as The Mandalorian, it's Pedro Pascal!
call you daddy, Pedro. I'm dead, I'm dead, I'm dead. You've all rendered me useless for any
questions for this guy. My heart, I'm dead. Now listen, I know you all love Pedro, I know you
think he's perfect and he can do no wrong. You guys are the best, you're the best, you're the
best. Let me tell you about the time Pedro Pascal threw me under the bus. I'm the one that got in
trouble. Do you remember though, we were doing the reveal of the Mandalorian toys at D23. I can't
believe you're gonna, you're throwing me under the bus. We showed off the Lego set, we showed off,
I believe it was the Razor Crest with the Mandalorian minifig, and I was told before we did
this segment, I was like, Anthony, they're gonna be watching you, don't move those toys from where
they're supposed to be, don't touch them, they all have to go in a specific place, they're coming out
of locked briefcases that are handcuffed to somebody, be very careful. I'm like, oh my gosh,
I better not, I better not mess this up. We get done and we're looking around the table and we
say, the Mando minifig is gone. Where did the, this is a prototype Mandalorian Lego minifig,
it's one of a kind. Security's patting me down, they're checking my pockets, do you know who goes
slinking out of the room? I was like, I was like, that's little and that's me, that's mine.
They came, they came, they came for me. Did they? Yeah. Did they knock, they knocked on your door?
We need that back. I was like, oh okay. And you're like, I eated it, it was small and I swallowed it.
I actually, you know, my, my, my, my neighbors, my neighbor came over that day actually with her
young son and I was like, no one's gonna know, no one's gonna see this, nobody's gonna, it's tiny,
like a magnet. He was like, what's this? And I was like, oh I can't give it to him, I'm sorry.
That's amazing, but like, the last three years have to have been, I mean,
incredibly surreal to watch the show blow up like this. I mean, it's, it's, everything Star Wars is
big, but this is very big, Pedro, the Mandalorian. Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni,
we are in the hands of very, very good Star Wars parents. They, it's, it's honestly, it's, it's,
it's their love and all of your love that is basically, I say this with all earnestness,
it's exactly what's made it what this is and this is the way.
So you're a few seasons in now, I mean, the last time we talked, I mean,
you had just showed off the trailer, no one knew what this was going to be yet,
we hadn't watched any of it. How has the experience changed for you playing this character
over the last three years? Because the last time I saw you, you were just about to start.
I would say that one of the most fascinating things I think that, that, that everyone's
gotten to discover with Mando's relationship to Grogu, the child, is that it's, it's almost
Mando discovering himself and discovering his own heart, really.
And, and, and, and there isn't anything more exciting about learning things about yourself
and to see a stoic, armored character like that to, to, to discover his heart.
He's a good dad, Pedro.
Yeah.
He's really, he's, he's really grown into a good dad.
All by instinct.
Yeah.
All by instinct, yes.
Is, are you, are you bummed or jealous at all that the baby is definitely more famous than you?
Is that a problem? Is that a problem for you?
No, Jelly, let my baby grow.
My God.
Oh, man.
You know, we just had Omid up, who is amazing, absolutely wonderful.
And he was talking about keeping the secrets.
You're great at keeping the secrets.
But what's the hardest thing about doing press?
Because you're about to start doing press for this show and you can't say anything.
How do you handle that?
The hardest part is how all of the creative ways journalists find to try to trick you.
It's insane.
And I, but I've gotten really good at it too.
I was like, they was like, start a sentence.
And I know by in four sentences, they're going to ask for a spoiler.
Yeah.
But the easiest part about it actually is that I don't want anything to be spoiled for anybody.
I really, really don't.
Like I've protected this and I'm a, I'm a big mouth.
Yeah.
I, I, I don't keep a lot of secrets.
And with this, it's been really easy because I want, I want everyone to experience it for the
first time.
And I want everything to be a surprise.
And there are surprises coming.
I love it.
And, you know, talking about these surprises, what's it like being at your first celebration
where people know the character above and beyond a couple images?
I mean, last time we were all like, this guy looks cool.
And that's all we knew.
Yeah.
Well now, I mean, the warm embrace is just unbelievable to be able to just see you guys
here, to see everybody here.
And, and, and, and I'm, I'm yours.
Do you see the real baby that is Grogu right now?
Yes, of course.
I see him over there.
He's beautiful.
It's so so.
Legally.
So without spoiling it, could you describe season three in three words to us?
Action.
Spectacle.
Surprises.
Yes.
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for coming out.
I know it's hard for you.
I know it's hard in front of such an indifferent audience.
But everybody, please give it up one more time for Pedro Pascal.
Stick around.
More from Star Wars Celebration Live is coming right up.
