Hi I'm Shorty and welcome back to my YouTube channel Shorty Skate Series.
Today I'm at the Bourns Trampoline Park in Suwon with the Soul Skaters crew.
We're here to practice flipping technique so that one day soon we'll take it to the ramps.
Up these stairs will be our classroom and our teacher today is my friend Kevin.
Kevin has been coaching aggressive inline for 13 years.
If you're interested in lessons he'll be in the LA area between end of March to mid-May
so you can contact him on his Instagram at rolls underscore kevdog.
After warming up the first trick we were learning was the misty flip.
This has been a dream trick of mine for so long.
First we practiced rolling over foam mats to understand the proper technique
and what axis we needed to spin on.
We repeated it many times until we were confident to move on to the trampoline.
Kevin broke down the next step and we did our best to follow.
Some of the team caught on faster than me but practice makes perfect so we kept at it.
Once Kevin gave me the tip of thinking about it more as a spin rather than a flip
I became more successful and by the end of the session I was feeling confident.
Next week the Soul Skaters crew is heading to Choochon
where they have a foam pit and perfect ramps to try flips on so I might tag along there too.
So keep an eye out for that vlog.
The next flip to try was the flat spin.
Similar rotation to the misty flip but this time we were rotating backwards.
Which as you can see it took me a little while to get my head around.
So I paused this trick for a little bit to work on my back flip
so that I could become less scared at flipping backwards.
Since I've practiced back flips at tricking it only took me one over rotation
to then get the timing right.
I also threw some front flips for fun too.
Okay back to practicing the flat spin.
At the end of the session I was finally able to get closer to what a flat spin is meant to look like.
I'll definitely try to throw this into the foam pit next week I think maybe.
So it was nearly the end of the session but Kevin wanted to show me one last trick.
The cork 7.
This is one of those tricks you see and your eyeballs fall out of your head.
I have trouble spinning 540 so 720 is a big ask.
But the way Kevin broke it down it made it seem possible
so I'll definitely keep working on this one on the trampoline when I have the chance.
Okay so the twist into a misty flip.
What it feels like you break the axis backward and then you rotate your upper body.
And then you can spot the mattress and then do the misty flip back on.
Wow.
Yeah.
Yep.
Oh.
Wow.
So that's it.
I hope you enjoyed this short video on my trip to practice flips at the trampoline park.
But I do suggest you having a coach or a professional to help you if you're looking to do big flips.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel for more skating tips and tricks.
