Hello, and good morning. It is day nine.
Coolest spot. Can you believe it? I mean look at this place. It's so cool.
It's like this open shelter.
I am so excited for this. There's a lot of rocks in here, but there's like a little weird broom scraper thing.
I might have to use that. Today I have
Allen wrench kit that I think I need to change the tow stops, and I also have my notebook to write in later.
I'm getting so much better at this. It's taken a hot minute to get
better at this, but
it's coming along, definitely.
Also, I've never used the word hot minute either.
Why am I like this? I have tow socks today. I don't think that's gonna help anything.
I think it's just gonna be weird, but that's just what was in the pile, and what's in the pile is just what goes.
I'm like three quarters of the way done editing my first video,
and
I am having so much fun with voiceovers.
I used to have so much trouble with it,
and I didn't realize it was because my microphone didn't work, and now that my microphone works, I am
having so much fun making fun of myself on camera while I skate. That's like my favorite thing to do.
It said it was gonna be like 70 degrees outside today, but
it's still a little chilly.
This is like the earliest in the morning that I've skated so far. I didn't know that this area is like an RV lot.
It's really
making me think I should
start a van life thing
like where I just
take a van or a car out on the road,
live there for a while, travel.
That'd be cool, right? I could still skate.
Remembering to put this on the right way today.
Let's do this. I got this kit. I found it in the basement.
So many more options.
50-50 chance I find one that works. Too big. Too big.
So easy once you have the right tools.
Oh, I can't wait to try these new ones.
Okay, let me just tell you that was literally the easiest thing I've ever done in my entire life now that I have the right tool.
The difference between left and right. Let's compare that to the new ones.
And there's the new one.
So you can see
old
versus new.
Can I tell you how much fun I'm having with skating lately? This is like all I think about doing now.
It's like where am I going to go skate next? What skills am I going to work on?
Can I watch some people online skating? What can I learn from them?
There's so many cool things. And then I'm like, what cool skates am I going to get next? And then I'm like,
why do you need that many pairs of skates? It's fashion.
So cute. Did I just sweep away all the rocks? Yes, I did. This place is so cool.
I just keep finding more and more spots and it just keeps getting better and better. Seriously.
What am I going to work on today?
Backwards skating
and
stopping.
Literally the same things I work on every day. I'm just kidding. I'm going to find some new things to work on too.
I still have the whole second half of my list
that I can never seem to
make it to in the one day that I've been trying to do it.
Maybe I should just do the second half of the list. I don't know.
The toe socks in this are weird.
When I went ice skating, I used to think ice skates were so uncomfortable and you know,
I don't know if they are or not,
but I thought that because like ice skates were uncomfortable that skating boots would be kind of uncomfortable and these are really comfortable.
Oh, yeah, and I get to try out these new toe stops too.
The new toe stop is so rubbery. It doesn't feel plasticky at all. The plastic one felt like it would like
just like slide against
the cement, but this one like
has some grab to it. Okay, I'm liking this.
The list. I basically have a warm-up routine memorized.
Okay, let's keep going.
Ankles are gonna become
so
strong from doing all these S's because I can feel them. I can feel the burn.
There's still a bunch of little rocks and I keep hitting them.
But this place is so big. I don't want to have to sweep the whole thing.
Next we're gonna do
bubbles and then skating backwards.
I'm gonna try and do as many turns as I can in a row now. Just like turn, step turn, step turn.
Okay, here we go.
They literally just got worse and worse as I went on. Oh, I should turn the other way.
Where are the wrist guards when you need them?
After that, let's do something easy. Let's do bubbles crossing over.
Okay, those are so fun. I wish I could do them backwards.
When I do them backwards, it's like
I'm not in control of my own feet. How does that even happen? I don't know what they're doing. They're just doing their own thing.
Right foot half bubble's good, left foot half bubble's
bad.
It was a rock. It wasn't me. It was a rock.
How do you break it?
It's such a nice spot though. I can't get over it.
But like I'm down like in a valley and I think everybody around me can see me. I don't think they care though.
I don't think there's that many people. Their lives are just going on. They don't even
think twice about me down here.
I hope.
Okay, it's jump time.
I just cannot seem to make
these 360 jumps today. This makes me feel very heavy.
It's much different than in gymnastics. How heavy is this? Like five pounds each or something?
Man, yeah. Oh, I did see somebody doing like a really cool like
tuck jump thing
over like parking lot marker things and I was like
that's cool. I want to do that sometime.
Okay, let's keep trying.
Three quarters is so much easier.
I'd say 95% pretty good.
Oh, that was so good.
That was such a good one.
Got it.
Did it.
It is so peaceful out here.
I'm gonna get some music now. So I'm gonna watch a video on how to dribble with my feet like that sort of thing.
Let's see if I can get it.
So the first drill that I did was just trying to balance
just a little bit on my toes then
rolling back and forth keeping all four wheels on the ground.
Looks like I'm pretty good at that. It's pretty simple.
And facing the opposite direction, same thing.
Then we're trying to stay on our toes and do it which is like way harder
clearly because I'm just tipping all over the place. Can't stay up.
And then at the end you're trying to tip up to your toe.
So it's like keep it flat all the way through and then at the back end tilt up to the toe.
I'm tipping over on that one, too.
Yep, kind of got it down. Pretty smooth now. Looks pretty natural there starting back with the first part.
Whoops.
And we're starting off slow again with all the wheels on the ground and then going heels.
All toes, all toes. Oh, not too bad.
Not exactly what I expected, but
and we're trying to balance on those toes, but man, it's just not happening, is it?
Oh, oh.
Close, but no.
You know, maybe we could just balance on the toe stops.
I don't think that'll help very much though.
What am I trying to figure out? I'm like watching it and I'm like, oh better get those feet moving.
Whatever I'm doing, it is not anything close.
Okay, now we're practicing keeping one foot up on the toe the whole time and then the other one
to get that feeling.
Yep, got that left foot up on the toe. Right foot stays down.
And now we're doing it faster. Other foot.
Got those hands moving because that needs to happen.
And here's a front view
and side view.
I think my toe stops are actually a little bit big for this. I think most people would be using
smaller toe stops or they would remove them
for this type, but
oh, it'd be so much work to take them off and put it back on all the time.
Okay, I think I'm starting to get it. I'm getting the pop up to the toe
all the way through the back to front motion. Oh, and I'm tippy.
Okay, getting a little bit closer. That looks pretty smooth. I remember when I was doing this that
for some reason there was this very slight slope in the building and so I had to be facing that direction
in that like one spot that I'm in.
Oh, oh, that was looking interesting.
You know, I'm still not totally sure.
how good of dribbling this is. I think I still have 50% more work to go because
I never actually finished the video. It was like a 12 minute video
and I'm like halfway through and
definitely
like once I did that part I was like, I got it.
Why do we need the whole second half of the video?
Oh, because the pivots.
The pivots.
Oh
Those new toe stops are awesome. They like let me grab into the ground.
Helps so much. The last couple things is a crossover walk and also doing the like second position. This sort of thing.
Gonna add some sass to it.
Okay, adding the sass is hard. I should probably bend my legs more and not look down.
I don't think airplanes are sassy. Got some airplane arms going on.
Why is it so hard?
Okay, that's as sassy as it gets.
I consider myself a pretty flexible person, but I don't think I can get into like a 180.
What is that? I'm so stiff.
