I Tried the MOST EXPENSIVE Brunch in Argentina! 🍳 Was it Worth it?

[Music] hi good morning it's mike chen here in bunes argentina today is sunday and i had to check out the local sunday brunch buffet and supposedly this is the best one inside the alvier palace hotel well at least it's the most expensive one and it opens in about 5 minutes let's go check it out the brunch is right behind those two ginormous curtains here wow that looks really fancy this is the most exquisite looking brunch i've ever been to in my life first of all this dining area is absolutely gorgeous so i guess this is the room with all the desserts look at this [Music] salads cheeses the seafood section scallops ceviche okay took a look it's a beautiful brunch buffet this is all the food that's on uh the cook station there's a dessert station sushi it's not a big buffet there's not a lot of stuff on the food stations it's definitely a brush buffet that takes service very seriously everyone's here is so nice they're always checking on you make sure you have everything you need it's one of those places where after they pour you the coke they don't even leave the bottle because they're going to come back and pour you some more later now let's go taste the food [Music] i think this is the first time i've ever been to a buffet where i could fit the entire hot entree all of it onto one plate i do appreciate they give you a menu here so um so you know exactly what you got the hot dishes do look really really good though especially that shake and beef that looks like a pretty darn good shake and beef with a little quail egg on top rice beef that is so good i love shaken beef i eat it quite a bit i mean this is a really good version of shaken beef every single egg in that dish is wonderfully cooked fried perfectly beautiful runny yolk little onions the rice is good the sauce the gravy is nice the beef is i mean yeah this country is known for beef but i did not think the beef was going to be this exquisite but it is that beef that's some of the most tender beef i ever had that's so tender it's borderline ridiculous like every element of that dish is freaking delicious really really good all right this one i have doubts about this is the porchetta look at this stuffed red pepper it looks like mushrooms inside at least the lean part looks a little dry i am absolutely eating my words right now at least the part of the pork with the skin and fat so tender and juicy the lean piece that's a bit dry but the fattier side just exquisite and this was right next to it the stuffed red pepper it's good pepper stuffed with mushrooms it's smoky the mushroom's really nice they give you a bread basket four different types of breads in here i think that dish goes really good with the bread next is the blood sausage croquette oh my i shouldn't have tried to cut this things just kind of exploded oh that's amazing that was actually the first time i had blood sausage in argentina and usually blood sausage is a little gritty but the inside is more smooth and creamy a hint of sweetness very rustic and earthy flavor that's actually a really good blood sausage this is a mushroom bun so they really just cover all different types of cuisine on this on this buffet it's not bad i think the best part of that was the bun itself i mean the mushroom is nice i think they added some pickles in there but i think they made that bun themselves that thing was way softer more pillowy not heavy not dense at all yeah the bun's my favorite part of that dish next let's try the smoked cheese quesadilla oh my god oh that was definitely really hard to swallow the tortilla is really stale yeah that one's not good at all green curry [Music] grouper that one's just okay and the last thing i haven't tried is the eggplant parm that one's pretty good i think my favorite thing in the hapu section shake and beef yeah i could eat a whole plate of that so they just wheeled out a giant platter of brisketss with chimmy chur on top of course brisket looks nice and fatty brisket's good i think this country anything with beef it's going to be amazing super juicy goes so well with the chim cher i love chim cher so much that's wonderful next plate i got the cold seafood dishes oyster caviar ceviche it looks like some tuna in here tuna or salmon i think salmon actually oyster's not bad a little briny pretty buttery not bad this looks like salmon over avocado mhm this is delicious like really delicious buttery rich salmon with avocados i think a little bit of lemon juice that's incredible and this is the ceviche this is awesome a nice seafood salad with a dill and heart of palm oh pretty good oh and the caviar so it tasted a little bouncy to me so i asked them what kind of caviar this was and they told me it's not real caviar it's not bad tasting it kind of has a slight bit of brininess to it definitely really bouncy almost kind of tastes like a miniature tapioca pearl that bursts a little bit kind of a shame figure like a super fancy brunch like this would have real caviar especially for the price i think the only thing i haven't got to is the salad bar and the sushi why don't i get some sushi oh also totally forgot about this this is another seafood salad looks like some mango inside with some base scallops not bad so sushi wise it's really just salmon um tuna and some different rolls the fish is good way too much sushi rice wow the salmon is good the tuna tastes really fishy yeah it's not good tuna also it kind of tastes like it's been sitting out way too long that's not good they also have a station with scrambled eggs and croissant eggs are creamy this sounds good i think i tasted pretty much everything i wanted to taste before dessert all right let's go grab some more shake and beef got a bunch of stuff from the salad bar some heart of palm or whatever this spring roll looking thing is some fig potatoes for gua broccoli spring roll of all the things i thought that could be in this spring roll i did not think it was going to be broccoli so this looks like fergu with grilled fruit on top oh that was incredible wow rich creamy fra with i think a grilled apple on top with some nuts sweet velvety oh that was a bite of pure luxury right there that was so good also this looks like apple i think anything involving fruits and cheese is an automatic winner that's why i'm so excited for this fig it's like mayonnaise i don't know what this is it's fig and i think really creamy blue cheese wow oh that goes really really well with the fig i got to say fruits and cheese perfect combo and they do that a lot here also that smoke ham nutty fatty i love just chewing that thing and just feel the fat render on your tongue that goes great with hard palm by the way okay now more shake and beef i think this is the best dish here dessert time i got a chocolate mousse with what looks like golden almonds on top at a buffet like this you definitely expect to see gold show up somewhere almond's good chocolate mousse is incredible this is an awesome dessert also got a chocolate cake a cheesecake with fresh fruit on top this brass cheesecake is pretty darn good and a really good chocolate puff they also have a couple station set up one makes crepes the other has ice cream get some ice cream actually the crepe looks pretty good so got a crepe with some ice cream on top crepe is good little raspberry syrup this is an amazing crepe probably the best buffet crepe i ever had i think it's actually one of the most expensive buffets i've been to ever so everything including tax service everything is $160 that is definitely a pricey buffet i really had no idea what to expect before coming here so what you do get is you get unlimited wine or i think sparkling wine all the drinks are included the service is extraordinary i mean if you drop a napkin you drop a utensil i spill some water they're on it right away everyone's so friendly and courteous it's definitely a very very high-end brunch buffet you could tell they paid a lot of attention to every single dish the presentation is beautiful the setting is gorgeous nobody is trying to hurry you out everyone's just kind of sitting around talking relaxing eating slowly it's a very luxurious fancy buffet but if you're looking from a value standpoint $160 you're not getting a lot of substance there's not a lot of food on this buffet at all the seafood section is very very small i thought if they had like an expensive caviar or something that might be able to justify the price more but unfortunately that wasn't the case there's really not much um ingredients on this buffet to really justify the price tag so it was nice to be able to come here and try it but for someone like me who loves value for money i don't really think this place is for me i'm going to finish my tea and they did bring over some look look at this little cookies and macaroon sit here for a little longer and um because it's sunday there's supposed to be a giant street fair back around where my hotel is so we'll go check that out this city is just majestic so that is the famous theater this is a school and right across the park the supreme court of argentina [Music] it's time for dinner and in keeping with local tradition i'm eating at like 8:00 at night and this is when dinner actually begins this restaurant is walking distance from my hotel looks pretty good so this is a venezuelan restaurant and their most popular dish is a kacapa which is a venezuelan corn pancake something i never tried before wa look at the size of this thing holy moly and if you think this pancake is big look at that ginormous chunk of cheese inside the outside is beautifully golden you can definitely see the corn inside the pancake look at the size of that white cheese loaded with shredded beef on top wow this thing just looks magical it smells so good i can smell the corn i smell the cheese i smell the beef as well oh look at how much beef is stuffed in here oh this smells so so good oh this is juicy juicy shredded beef and the only reason the juice is not leaking out is because this fat layer of soft white cheese i don't even know how to begin to eat this this thing will rock you like an earthquake oh this is so freaking good wow look at all the butter that's in this pancake the best way to describe this tastes like if a tamalei in a pancake fell in love got married and had a [Music] baby and that baby is sweet and it is corny this thing has a slight just a tiny crispy outer edge inside soft and chewy such a nice buttery sweetness from the corn of course the butter and the whole thing just melts in your mouth like biting into a warm hug and a corn field except that hug has cheese involved which is always better don't even get me started on that shredded beef it's so juicy like when i'm chewing this juice is just erupting from the beef like absolutely erupting and look at this you guys think i'm kidding this is like a like a beefy volcano the white cheese i love it's incredibly soft and stretchy look at that look at this wa this thing is going all the way to the ceiling i'm not even kidding almost wow that cheese is so soft and creamy this whole thing is sweet meaty cheesy buttery every single bite you take will absolutely send you to comfort food heaven no passport required wow first time ever trying this dish how incredible is this venezuela next time and this is such a hefty portion this will definitely be my last meal of the night i'll be able to go home and sleep well after eating this so good also what i love about the city can always walk around there's always things to see it's great when you're stuffed you just need to walk it off and as always all places i went to today listed down below for you
