Oh, yes, we are cam on the tech booth in the tech booth says yes.
We are live live on Facebook live on YouTube drop a comment.
Tell me where you're from it is.
I can't say good morning because I don't think it's morning everywhere.
Now. I'll say good day.
It is Jill from Prager you kids today's Tuesday, July 25th, and we have big good wonderful great terrific fantastic Earth-shaking news to share with you headlines in education today.
A couple of the headlines we're going to tackle and I'm super excited about this because yes, it's summer.
Yes, everyone's out having a good time out of school.
However school will be back before we know it and I've I've kind of taken the approach this summer to share good news in education many times when I when I visit you with you guys online live.
We'll talk about all the scary headlines and the bad stuff and the stuff that needs our immediate attention happening in education.
But today I'm sharing good news because we've got a lot of great news and the irony is that it is all coming out of California.
Yes, the good news in education is coming from California, which is a rarity.
We are here at Prager you and a Prager you kids fighting from the belly of the beast in California.
So this is extra special for us.
Tell me where you're from in the comments and some of the headlines.
I'm going to share with you Chino Valley Unified in Southern California.
Their Board of Education voted to inform parents if and when a student changes their gender identity at school.
We also have a brief headline to inform you how California Governor Gavin Newsom is now threatened officially by local control Temecula Valley Unified School District
because they are opting to do what they were elected to do and assert local control and determining what kinds of curriculum is appropriate for their particular school district
and Governor Gavin Newsom is slapping them with a one and a half million dollar fine because he doesn't like what they're doing in Temecula.
That's another headline.
Pardon me for laughing, but this is a lot of fun, right?
And of course the big announcement that I want to get into is that we are winning the war the culture war in education.
I don't say that lightly leftist outlets are melting at the news that was released today in the Daily Beast and I want to bring up that headline right now.
Prager U says that Florida teachers are I need to plug this in right cam here.
We go technical technical details that happen or I guess that don't happen when I get super excited and say cam we got to go live and then I forget to plug everything in.
Okay, are we plugged in now?
You see my computer screen now?
Yes.
Okay there.
There's the brief.
There's the brief pause there always has to be a little snafu because that's how you know that we're live right?
It's authentic.
Okay, Prager you kids is approved supplemental curriculum in Florida schools currently.
This just happened as of the lot as of the this last week.
I made this announcement last week actually on Fox News.
We are able to be used as an educational resource in Florida schools are Prager you kids books are magazines are resources are videos Florida teachers can use our materials as supplemental curriculum.
In Florida.
We are fully approved more states will follow soon.
I'm not allowed to announce it yet, but I will announce it soon as soon as we have more states officially signed on in the coming weeks.
I will be able to tell you what other states will be officially approving or Prager you kids materials to be used in schools and the big deal about this is because we are now officially approved in Florida schools.
Teachers can use our materials and not get reprimanded or fired for opting to educate children about civics or financial literacy or how our system of government works through our Prager you kids materials.
This is a big win and like I said, the left is melting.
Here's the article right now that that I want to say like launched or you know, they went live.
I should say earlier today.
I saw it.
It is from the Daily Beast Prager you says Florida teachers approved to use its class curriculum and they have curriculum in quotes.
It's the latest shakeup to Florida's public education curriculum, which has taken a sharp conservative turn under governor governor.
Rhonda Santas is leadership.
And oh, look, there's a very terrifying picture of myself right there with Otto the Bulldog very threatening.
There we are in red.
Okay, I'm having a little bit too much fun with this.
Throughout the state.
So you can do your own internet searches about Dennis Prager's comments on Pride Month and come to your own conclusion, but it's funny that they cite that at the top.
I'm not surprised.
It is the Daily Beast.
Let's go on a Prager you spokesperson told the Daily Beast.
It will be up to teachers to decide whether they use its supplemental curriculum in their classroom.
The nonprofit says Florida is the first state to approve the content, but they're pushing for other states to join by the fall.
Absolutely and Florida Department of Education to go on to say that our Prager you kids material was determined to align to Florida's revised civics and government standards and can be used by school districts at their discretion.
Now, let's go back to a headline that hit the news.
I want to say maybe like a month or so ago about how civics performance scores had a sharp decline amongst 8th graders across the country and the nation's report card.
for our children to not learn how our system of government was established and how our system of government works that is civics.
So with that decline, we're you know, we're here at Prager you kids saying hey, we have video after video after video after magazine after book after magazine.
We have all of these resources on our website the videos and digital magazines for free mind you that educate people about civics.
It's here use it.
We are making it for you.
We've been making this the past two years.
It's important for our young people to be educated in civics.
So yeah, I want to skip down now this article that cites me as a fictitious pro.
No, I want to hit this right now videos.
This is in the Daily Beast videos published by Prager you kids like Prager you itself have conservative and nationalistic undertones in a web page showcasing showcasing videos for the classroom.
One is titled patriotic paper flute while others include instructional videos on historical figures and financial literacy.
This is supposedly a hit piece and this is what they're talking about.
Patriotism is not a bad thing.
Our country's motto one of America's mottos is e pluribus unum Latin for out of many one out of many.
Backgrounds we are one people out of many heritages.
We are one people out of many cultures and different places in the world where people come from to America to be free to to to be able to have freedom of speech and to live their lives in a way that is rewarded for hard with their hard work.
E pluribus unum out of many one that is patriotism patriotism and nationalism is a positive thing being national when they when they say they have nationalism videos.
Yes nationalism.
We are all Americans together as one no matter where we come from.
We are a nation as one e pluribus unum out of many one.
It is a good thing to be United.
It is a good thing to have a common cultural literacy stories and history that we all share regardless of where we come from.
This is important for children to learn.
I can't help but laugh when pieces like this on the Daily Beast say oh they have things called a patriotic paper flute.
Yeah, go look at the video.
Let's click on actually I'm going to click on it right now.
Oh, yeah, it's the video about craftery my show craftery crafts history is craftery.
We did a history and your questions your questions.
I'm Jill and today we've got a project that'll soon be music to your ears.
We're creating a paper flute that you can actually play to learn all about some of America's most famous marching band composers.
That is threatening marching band composers to learn about America's marching band composers Daily Beast.
You caught me there with divisive content.
Okay, so I'd like to hear or see if any of you have weighed in on our Prager U comments.
I just want to check the comments here.
If any of you are in Florida have seen the news about us being in Florida.
If any of you have read this this hit piece on daily on the Daily Beast excellent wonderful.
Why is California in the title of this video because good news and education is coming out of California Prager U kids being one of them now in schools and we of course create Prager U kids here in California.
So that's a positive thing.
Why not have July as a month for any and all Americans.
I like that comment Liz July.
I always thought should be and you know Americans United Month because we have months for all different other identity groups, right?
And the the identity group that I would like to see prevail is that we are together as Americans.
So Liz, thank you for that comment Prager U.
I'd like to have a more detailed explanation as to why Temecula was fined.
I will get that to you Steve coming shortly.
What's wrong with the undertones like that great fascist propaganda for kids.
Oh Stephen you make me laugh Stephen if you can tell me how damaging you feel.
It might be for students to feel United as Americans.
I would really look forward to seeing your comments fascist propaganda to say that we're United as Americans.
No matter where we come from is fascist propaganda.
I vehemently disagree with that.
But if you can explain I would love to hear it.
We we welcome freedom of speech and we welcome civil discourse.
So Stephen if you would like to explain yourself more, I would love that.
Oh, he's laughing at me.
All right.
Let's move on to the next headline.
Okay, the headline.
Let's get to the Board of Education's in Chino Valley Unified and also a Temecula Valley.
Let's tackle Chino Valley Unified School District.
First the Board of Education in Chino Valley Unified Schools,
which is in Southern California here voted to inform parents if or when a student changes their gender identity at school.
And here is the article that I just pulled up for you to see is from the New York Post
and what the New York Post titled it was California school superintendent booted from district board meeting after opposing new transgender policy.
Let's get into this article a bit.
I always like to read the first part of it.
California State Superintendent of Schools Tony Thurmond was kicked out of a board meeting Thursday night.
This is last week where he opposed a district policy to require teachers to notify parents as students that identify as transgender.
So right there the district the local school district voted that teachers in their local area that they live and work and pay taxes in the school board elected school board members voted that those local parents have a right to know if
or when their student identifies as transgender at school.
How is this unreasonable?
I am a parent my child to go all parents know for a child to go on a field trip.
You must sign permission slips.
You must be informed.
You must give consent for a child to participate in varied activities at school.
A parent must be informed a parent must give consent.
We as parents in the beginning of the school year often sign permission to administer medical care to my child should they get hurt should they fall off the monkey bar should they break their arm at school as parents.
We are constantly invited to partner with schools to be informed to have our parental rights honored so that we parents and the school can work together to keep our children safe and properly educated.
This is so backwards.
If you live in Chino Valley Unified, please please offer a comment.
I'll continue reading the article.
Tony Thurman says I come before you as a parent tonight, but we can debate all of the laws and all of the policies and practices.
I asked you I ask you to consider this that nearly half of the students who identify as being LGBTQ plus are considering suicide.
Listen, I am not going to sit here and dispute that kids who are identifying as lesbian gay or bisexual or something other than that are having trouble and are having a very difficult time reconciling with that.
I'm not going to dispute that.
Okay, it's a complex situation and I recognize that.
I applaud you.
I thank you and I ask you to please continue to forge ahead to to say that it is a problem and dare I say state-sanctioned child abuse to encourage educators to keep secrets from parents about their own children, right?
Okay, so then you have the Chino Valley Unified Board of Education president Sonia Shaw putting him in his place.
I want to watch this video right now.
And we're going to see a clip of this.
Here we go.
May I have as a point of order as the board of order.
This is not your meeting.
You may have a seat because if I did that to you in Sacramento, you would not accept it.
Please sit.
You already sent us a blackmailing letter on previous.
You'll not bully us here in Chino.
Please see in Chino.
I want to let this place so we can see the beginning of it because I think it caught it in the middle of the video.
When there's officials telling Tony Thurman that his time is at 82 to go.
I'm going to reconvene the regular meeting.
Please bring it down guys.
We got to get through this for our students.
This is the beginning of the clip put our students at risk because they may not be in homes where they can be.
Time.
Time and I learned something from a previous board president.
Guys be respectful.
I am going to do a point of order which I learned from the previous board president.
Tony Thurman.
I appreciate you being here tremendously, but here's the problem.
We're here because of people like you.
You're in Sacramento proposing things that pervert children.
You had a chance to come and talk to me Tony.
By all means you had a chance to come talk to me.
Why was it so important for you to walk with my opponent?
You are the very reason why we're in this.
May I have as a point of order as the board?
Okay, and then the video plays what we saw at the very top.
So when I started playing that video for you, it admittedly picked up in the middle of it.
That was the Chino Valley Unified School District board president.
Sonia shot telling the state superintendent of public institution public instruction.
Tony Thurman.
You're in Sacramento proposing things that pervert children.
So basically he showed up to their meeting to to, you know, to speak his piece which I which I don't deny his right to do that, but he showed up and I think he showed up with the thought that oh, I am the state superintendent.
I'm going to have quote-unquote power over this little school district in Southern California.
That is, you know, trying to honor parental rights against what we want to do up in Sacramento, California.
And the board president Sonia Shaw wasn't having any of it.
And those are the types of leaders.
We need and just as everyone who speaks at a school board meeting gets called when they hit their time and I've spoken at school board meetings and I've hit my time and the board president has cut me off.
And yeah, it hasn't been fun.
But in reality, that's what happens when you hit your time.
You are dismissed and you are supposed to show respect and order for the meeting.
That's happening.
Tony Thurman thought that he was above and beyond that that that that order that is imposed on meetings and the board president Sonia Shaw called him out on it.
And I respect her for doing that and I respect her for really saying listen, you had a chance to work with us and you refuse to do that.
So you have wins like this happening in school districts in California.
Now, Chino Valley is admittedly in a more reasonable, reasonably minded place in the state.
So we, you know, we're grateful for their conviction in really holding the line and honoring parents rights.
But this is these are the types of things that are starting to happen at California school board meetings now where the leaders are saying no state of California.
We have local control and we owe it to the people the taxpayers in our community to to to govern in a way that they the people see appropriate.
So I applaud Chino Valley for doing so and you can find out more about them online.
The Temecula I want to see if there's any comments.
Actually, let me get to Temecula and then we will go to the comments.
So as far as Temecula Valley school board another school board in Southern California pushing back against inappropriate materials that the state is trying to implement this article from CBS News admittedly from last week.
But I want to take you through it.
Governor Newsom finds Temecula Valley school board 1.5 million dollars for rejecting a new curriculum.
Let's get into it in the article here.
California Governor Gavin Newsom on Wednesday announced that the state would be finding the Temecula Valley Unified School District in an ongoing battle over a social studies curriculum that involves gay rights activist Harvey milk.
That milk was a pedophile and had a relationship with a teenager while he was in the 90s.
So it's interesting because again, this article is from CBS News.
We know that CBS News often gives us information through a left-leaning slant and I can say this because I used to work for CBS Los Angeles.
So they fail to mention that the board members the school board members in Temecula Valley want to find alternatives to educate children that don't involve an alleged pedophile because the here's the thing.
The Temecula Valley Unified School District rejected the lessons because Harvey milk had an intimate relationship with a minor when he was a grown adult and that's inappropriate.
That's inappropriate to highlight a figure like that in academic curriculum.
It just is and right now I want to share with you a comment that one of the school board members shared on her Instagram.
This is a powerhouse of a mother Jen Wiersma and I want you to listen to her response.
Here we go.
Hey there.
I just wanted to jump on and give you a shout out from Las Vegas where I'm attending the National School Safety Convention.
I'm collaborating with people from all over the country on best practices to make our campuses safer day in and day out.
I also wanted to weigh in on the recent reversal of our decision to adopt the TCI social studies curriculum for grades one through five.
Here's the message that the governor doesn't want you to hear this was a win for local control and ultimately for Temecula in a four to zero vote.
We decided to remove a module that centered on a controversial historical figure of activism Harvey milk who had sexual relationships with minors.
We decided to remove groups like the gay Liberation Front who had ties to Nambla communism and even Jim Jones and the massacre that happened.
We believe for a know that this is not educationally suitable for the fourth grade classroom.
Now what we're going to do is throw it into a subcommittee with teachers at the helm with parents breathing into it with administrative oversight and the idea that it will come back to the board for adoption.
That is the beauty of the blood sweat and tears of local government.
Then further we can infuse it with the things that are right bring in LGBT figures like a Sally Ride like a Billie Jean King.
Both of them had amazing careers and content that we and our kids can look up to.
That's what we need to do.
Let's bring in biographies additional civics geography whatever we need to do to make this content richer and more beautiful.
This is what the bill AB 1078 wants to stamp out what we've done as a community to make it better.
Write a letter to Corey Jackson and tell him to step back write a letter to the legislators in Sacramento and say no we need to have local control.
We've proven it Temecula has set the pace and in an unprecedented way taken a publisher that's adopted and said we're going to make it our own because that's what's right for the community the stakeholders and our children.
This is the message that we're going to carry forth and I want to thank our president for making the hard decisions for the entire board to hang for hanging in there and for getting to this point.
I'm grateful.
I'm honored to represent you and I'll continue to do the hard work moving forward.
We're going to get better and better together and ultimately leave an amazing legacy here in Temecula for future generations.
So thanks for listening and have a great week.
That is how you do it.
That's how you do it.
That is a leader that is an appropriate reasonable elected leader.
She's on the Temecula Valley Unified Board of Education and they made a decision to utilize the local control that they have as elected officials to determine what is appropriate for their community.
So again, I applaud Temecula Valley Unified School District and these are good wins.
These are good.
This is good news for education and the fact that all of these things Temecula Valley's reassessment and revision of the an inappropriate curriculum that came from the state.
That's a win Chino Valley's Board of Education vote to inform parents about whether or not kids are changing their gender identity at school.
That's a win Prager you kids content in schools approved to be used as supplemental curriculum in the state of Florida.
That's a win.
We have a petition for you and I pulled it up on the screen.
It's at Prager you.com tell America that you want Prager you in schools.
This is happening.
It's already happened in Florida.
Signing this petition were a lot harder to ignore thousands of teachers and school board members have contacted us at Prager you they're asking for quality resources to help educate kids on civics American history financial literacy.
They tell us that most of the existing curriculum and content that they have on these topics is laced with leftist policies or it's antiquated and we have the solution.
So if you're a teacher if you're an educator if you're a parent if you are an elected official if you're a grandparent sign our petition at Prager you.com.
It's the Prager you in schools petition.
We've been creating content educational and entertaining content for kids kindergarten through 12th grade for the past few years.
We have almost 300 pieces of content that are educational.
That's broccoli for our kids brains as we like to say sign the petition.
Get our content approved to be included at your school in your school district in your city in your state because all of the other leftist leaning educational content like, you know scholastic news.
It's all left-leaning and it's in our schools.
