Chinese authorities are now cracking down on the out-of-school tutoring industry. A document officially released by Chinese officials on July 24 was titled: "Opinions on Further Reducing the Burden of Assignment and Off-Campus Training on Students in Compulsory Education".

The document requires that no more permits will be issued for subject-based out-of-school training institutions at the compulsory education level across China, i.e. primary and junior high schools; existing training institutions will be registered as non-profit institutions, and online training institutions will have to be approved to operate. Hours of operation for off-campus training institutions are also tightly controlled. The document strictly prohibits training institutions from operating classes on China's national holidays, rest days and winter and summer vacations.

Covering a wide range of stories about or related China and its role in the world.
