Buried Treasure 8
#GJWculture #Antiques #Mysteriousdiscoveries #Discovery #Artifacts Part Eight deals with objects buried for safekeeping and begins with an extract from Samuel Pepys’ diary telling how he sends his wife and father to bury money after the raid on the Medway in 1667 during the Second Dutch War. It continues with the chance discovery by a metal detectorist of the Tregwynt Hoard, one example of over 200 known cases of coins buried during the English Civil War, and the Grouville Hoard of Iron Age and Roman coins discovered on Jersey in the Channel Islands.
