Many Americans, younger ones in particular, find communism appealing. They like the idea of everyone being equal: no mega wealthy, no one living on the streets. Paradise on earth.
And thatās how dangerous ideas take hold, because reality is a different story. In reality, communism means theft of land and property, state surveillance, labor camps, scarcity, misery, and deathāevery time. And yet, most Americans simply arenāt taught this.
NTD host Cindy Drukier spent the day at the Victims of Communism Museum. With her, youāre going to meet three women determined to fill this knowledge gapāin different ways, for different groups, but all with the same goal: teaching lessons we canāt afford not to learn.
Elizabeth Spalding, chair of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation; Catherine O'Connor, homeschooler and author of āMiaās First Potato Chipā; and Xi Van Fleet, speaker and author of āMaoās America: A Survivorās Warning,ā join us to help make these lessons clear.
