"Missing My Homeland" - piano solo by Justin Luo
Music and Lyrics by: Xiong Jun
Gazing from afar, tears fall like rain,
My soul entwined in dreams: who calls my name?
Are my loved ones safe and sound?
Do those mountains still stand as they were, lush and proud?
Mist and rain veil the beauty of Jiangnan,
Fishermen’s songs drift over emerald waters at dusk.
In Yunnan and Guizhou, spring lingers all year,
Moonlit bamboo groves intoxicate the heart.
The vast plains of the frontier, where cattle and sheep roam,
Steeds gallop, chasing those painted clouds.
Frozen peaks rise on the Tibetan plateau,
Wind chimes ring beneath sacred temple eaves.
As I gaze at my homeland thoughts race like the wind,
The great land has changed, its visage now dimmed.
Morality fades as hearts grow cold
The purity of ancient ways become lost, untold.
Yet in darkness and hopelessness, compassion remains,
Great truths awaken hearts' kindness again.
A world of peace where none steal nor stray,
Doors unbarred at night: harmony truly reigns
Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance make hearts pure,
Ancient virtues illuminate both timeless and sure.
With kindness and virtue, Divine blessings will stay,
And Heaven’s light will surely return to earth one day.
