China Tells US to Stop Waving 'Tariff Stick' | Business Matters (Feb. 20)

China is concerned about the "reciprocal tariffs" announced by the United States and urges the U.S. not to arbitrarily wave the "tariff stick" to influence its trading partners, said He Yadong, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, at a press conference in Beijing on Thursday. He made the remarks in response to a media query about a memorandum U.S. President Donald Trump signed on Feb. 13, directing his administration to determine "the equivalent of a reciprocal tariff with respect to each foreign trading partner."
